Good retailer. Very popular in the GTA.
- Go with the Core 2 Duo
- Stay away from VIA, the Asus P5GZ-MX would be my pick out of those.

Looking to buy cpu+mobo
EDIT:
I have about $200-$250 to spend on a cpu+mobo (looking for C2D, I believe is better then D)
I will be using it with 2 IDE HDD and 8x AGP VC and PCI SC
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
1. With ones should I get ?
2. Pentium D or Pentium Core 2 Duo ?
If there is any other cpu or mobo that you suggest getting on a tight budget please name it
I chose this store because they have a store that is about 15 minutes away from me where I am from Jane and Sheppard area, If there is another store that is closeby and have low prices please state it and it cant be online buyLast edited by Bell Rep; Jun 27th, 2007 at 01:52 AM.

The E2140 is not a Pentium D. It's a Core 2 with half the cache as the E4xxx series.

Yes I just want to upgrade the cpu and mobo for now and later will upgrade the video card and rams
I seen 1GB DDR2 ram for $50 that I might get also, could be alittle cheaper in some places
Video card I currently have a AGP bba ati 9800pro but will be looking for a pci-e later on not now
My budget is suppose to be $150 but sure dont want to spend $200

In this situation, Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA appears to be the best (and only) choice.
Since the mobo takes up C$75 of the budget, I suppose you want to go for the cheapest C2D CPU - E2140.
Just curious ... What do you have NOW ? What are you planning to do with your "new" system ?Last edited by willy; Jun 12th, 2007 at 03:35 PM.

I personally won't spend C$150 to upgrade your system. You won't experience drastic performance gain from what you are having right now. Save it up for your next big upgrade, probably with Vista SP1
Alternatively, you can consider buy a new E2140+Asus P5B+2GB DDR2+low/mid-range video card and unload your existing setup to partially offset your upgrade cost.
Just my $0.02 ...Last edited by willy; Jun 12th, 2007 at 04:13 PM.

So $304.70 before taxs, shipping, price matchs & rebates.
Very doable if you do as 1 previous poster sugested & sell & get what ya can for the stuff you got. the onboard video is equivalent to a X700 which is like the 9800 Pro .. so would just use the onboard till ya got a better videocard.

Nice prices but I will have to buy the cpu+mobo first
I tried to look for pc shops in North York in google but some of them dont have websites or could be just a small store with high prices
Any suggestion on computer shops in North York area like jane and sheppard, keele and sheppard, keele and finch, jane and steeles, etc.... not scarborough

Such as? I thought the VSTA was a solid board according to many review sites. I have heard nothing but good things about this board. The 4x pcie and memory controller doesn't count since it's meant to be a budget board anyway. Either way, it seems to fit the needs of the OP because it bridges the transition gap since he's still on agp.
