Looking For Family Plan

I am looking to setup 2-3 lines together, all with the cheapest subsidized iPhone 5s. I need about 1GB on each line and I was looking at the family plans on the big 3. I read somewhere here that family plans are a ripoff but there was no more detail given. For the big 3, it's about the same, 3 lines shared with 4GB is about $230, which works out to about $75. This doesn't seem to be more expensive than if I signed up for an individual plan 1GB data, so I don't see if the ripoff. If somebody could elaborate it would be appreciated.

I have my cable, home phone, and internet with Rogers. Would there be any benefit with signing up with Rogers? It seems like it hit and miss getting a bundle discount with wireless.

Any suggestions with getting the best plan(s) would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

I wrote a lengthy explanation of a similar situation in this post rogers-wireless-retention-plans-933329/ ... st19294943

Though the quick and dirty explanation is the big 3 is cheaper if you're sharing lines, the sub-brands are cheaper if you're just getting a line for yourself. You're better off staying on Rogers because you can probably still reach the retentions department as an existing Rogers customer and negotiate a little.
