I remember a while back that eye exams were like 60 bucks, but now I heard they have gone back to free in some circumstances?

you can still get free eye exams at an optometrist while ordering (or pretending to order glasses), Eye exams are free only to seniors. for the rest of us, we have to pay still, (unless the gov't made a change recently, but I have not heard of any such change). in bc you live, i presume?

It is not free, I just had an eye exam a few month ago.
The only way it will be free si if you go to a eye glass place and actually purchase something and they will do a free eye exam to get your eye grade but they will not give you your actual eye grade to make sure you only purchase from them.

Since, it's not free, that's fine, well, not really, it should be a part of public health... Anyways...
Anyone know any good places for eye exams, and what yours charged?
I called up one in the phone book once and the lady did it so fast, she didn't even do a good job, and then after she's like, "You can't use your prescription anywhere but here." and tried everything to get me to buy frames even though I need someone to help me, due to bad eyes.

If you go from 3.25 to 3.5, it's not that noticeable, but it's still good to have it corrected before it worsens and strains your eyes further.

I thought computers were for nerds? No one has glasses here? Can't point me toward a good eye doctor, and what of price they have?

There is certain conditions to get a free full eye exam. If your eye sight is more then 8.0. I know this, because, unluckly enough, 2 weekends ago, I went to a place to get mine done. One of my eyes is above 8.00 and I got it done for free. Supposely the BC government changed it so in 2005 and on, anyone that has 8.0+ will have their exam paid for. Just wish your eyes are not as bad as mine.

Jan 26th, 2006 09:44 AM #12Actually, sometime, you can't. Having a good eye sight, it does not mean you don't have eye problem.

Jan 26th, 2006 01:41 PM #14a friend of a friends daughter went for an eye exam. they found some sort of tumor/cancer and she died a couple months later. she went in figuring she needed to update her eyeglass prescription cause she was having frequent headaches. i'm sure this is a drastic example but her eyesight was fine...
