looking for New Hatchback under 18k

Any recommendations? Kia soul 2015 or anything else? I own a Matrix now time to replace with something similar for routine commute to work and drive in city?

Have you checked local dealers to see what they offer?
Autotrader would be a good place to start. Check newspapers for door crasher deals on some new cars.

You can't even buy a Fiesta for under $18k unless it's a base stripper with a manual transmission

My choice would have been the Honda Civic hatchback, but it wont be released late 2016. It looks great though. For hatchback, I would go Mazda 3 hatchback, it has the reliability of a Japanese , but with the fun driving dynamics of Volkswagen Golf.

i'm a fan of the soul, but im biased, there are a lot of good hatches, it depends alot on how much room you want in it and how fuel efficient.

i don't think anything is less than 18k though unless you're buying a microhatch with no a/c

take that 18 and buy used. way more value. you can then step up to a nicely equipped hatch from any company.

A used Subaru Impreza hatch is perfect. The latest gen with the fuel efficient engine.

Nissan CVT is a no no. They always have issues even though they increased the warrenty on them. Get something else so the CVT doesnt become an issue if you plan to keep long term.

Go test drive some cars. You might be surprised what you like and what you dont by a simple test drive.
