... And it's a few months later after a decent winter and many rain days, and how are all your blades now?
I've had my AirFoil blades from CT for atleast 9 months now (I remember buying when it was nice and warm outside) and the blade is getting flimsy, though the wing keeps the blade from buffeting around at 130km/h. Rain-X rain repellant works good? I gotta grab me some then, just got a new windshield![]()

Feb 24th, 2005 11:32 AM #76I third the comment! I bought the second-from-cheapest blade, and ended up returning it after a couple of weeks trial. Canadian Tire's basic "metal" blades were even worse.

May 16th, 2005 04:40 PM #79Exactly, I just wanted to see how people find their wipers after a few months of winter usage.... There's no use in asking how good people's wipers are new, because they basically all perform the same, new :p

well, my experience was after a long winter, my Bosch Microedge Excel wipers are still practically new (i got them last february). they have a whisper quiet, streak free-wipe. still no wiper lift or chatter at highway speeds even after a year. they're durable, great blades for all seasons. a bit on the expensive side though.

the excels are the non-refillable type
but bosch did make some microdege ii wipers which could be refilled, but i think those were discontinued a few years ago.

I've been a trico neoform guy for quite a while and they are awesome but the last time I tried the new 'Trico Tech Beam Blades' that came out late last year. They have a pretty slick off-set mounting system that lets the wiper arm sit ever so slightly lower. They're also beefy as hell and a couple of bucks cheaper than the neoforms. They're quiet and work great. Easy install. Got them online.

Mr
Yes, I bought a pair for my last car to try. They worked very well for about 4 months and then they simply seemed to stop working as if the rubber had hardened. I ended up tossing them. I was surprised because Toyota made them, or ones like them, standard on the Avalon.
My best success with wipers are Toyota's own brand in full blades or just rubber refills. I only replace them every 18 to 24 months. During that period they take all the crap thrown at the windshield in the GTA and keep on working. My car sits outside 24/7 so it isn't because they don't sit in the sun that they last. Toyota just seems to use better rubber. Having them installed by the dealer cost less, all in, than a pair of Reflex Wipers - the proper name for the ones you are talking about.

the michelin winter wiper blades that I bought a few years ago are still fine on my dad's teg.
with rain-x concentrate treated windhshield, as long as there's enough liquid, the swipe is fine.
my bm uses oem refill type blade, all season, and it's just fine, but the blade holder is susceptible to freezing due to wet flurries. other than that, I don't change my blades very often. as rain-x helps keep it clean.
from my experience, rain-x wiper blades don't last, rubber sucks. the michelins are a good full replacement, depending on your windshield and its treatment. you need fluid in order for it to wipe clean. otherwise you have to rely on silicone to avoid friction.
never used airfoil or whatever CT premium branded ones. I've used the old CT ones long time ago, they were ok, not as good as the new michelins.
