I doubt you're set on paying, but another board that I use uses http://coppermine-gallery.net/index.php

Allows for comments and ratings of the photos. On the front page shows random photos, favourite photos, the newest photos and things of such.

Just have to figure out what you value more really ... freeness or a personalized database.
