Lost costco receipt and need to return item

Hi,

A week ago, I purchased one of those touchless sensor pumps at Costco, and I want to return it, however I lost the receipt. Can i still return the product without a receipt? Would they have a transaction of me purchasing it, since they scan my membership Costco card everytime I shop there?

Thanks.

I remember one time they were able to pull up my mom's profile/account from entering her name. They just checked the history to find the purchase. Not too sure if they still do that now.

Go in and show your membership card. So long as your transaction was done under that membership card, it's stored in their database (for 3 years)

No receipt will actually be needed :)

Hope this helps.

Actually, this isn't correct. If the item was bought under the particular membership card, then the refund will be in the original form of payment.

Actually, you'll generally get it back as a Gift Card without receipt...

Yes.

And if you bought something at Costco.ca and return it in-store, you will get cash, not a gift card.

Well then there seems to be some inconsistency with their return policies then. I have brought items back a few times with no receipt and have always been issued a GC, which isn't a big deal as I'll always need something from Costco. I have experienced this in 3 different locations...

Did you have your membership card? If you have your membership card and the cashier gave you a GC then the cashier is a newbie because they are not supposed to do that.

With Receipt, they give you a refund on the paid method.. example, you pay with amex, you get it back on your amex.

No Receipt, Cashcard given.
