Lowes.ca shows save the tax is 11.5% and I'm in Alberta. Discount in store is 15%.

Online rep said they use the average of all tax rates to get 11.5% for online purchases so that everyone in Canada pays the same price online.

yeah i asked the same question to HD, here is what they said .

"we unfortunately cannot price match with store wide events such as Lowes' Save the Tax.

It is our policy to not price match with store wide events and sales. If it is just the item itself that is lower than our price and it has the same model number and is in stock, we would be able to look into price matching it. We are unable to remove the taxes on our orders."
I think as long as you show that the item's final price is $X, you should be able to price match + get the 10% price beat from Home Depot. See example below.

Weiser Toluca Universal Residential Passage Door Lever
Lowes Item #: 315615 SKU: 9698623 Model: 9GLA5350-031
Finish: Satin Nickel
Function: Keyed Entry
Handing: Universal

Quantity: 1
Price Each:
$55.24 You Save: $9.75
Discount Each: -$6.36
Discounted Price Each: $48.88

Edit. Got the heartland location to PM the tax free event. Got a bunch of garden stuff

Bought a lawn mower that's already on sale first thing this morning (really desperate for a new one lol). Note that the $10 off coupon won't work with this promo and the promo code has to be entered in all caps. I tried entering low caps coz I was lazy but it failed to apply so I entered all caps and it worked. Make sure to check your cart subtotal and total when you complete your order as I noticed the cart total was acting funny and changed automatically to not reflecting the coupon correctly a couple times.
Which one did you get?

This one
It's the most basic model but my lawn is small and it's only the front lawn. It comes with 5 years warranty so seems like not a bad choice. I wish HD has this model though so I could price match but it looks like only Lowes carries this brand.

What does online discount is 11.5% mean?
ON is 13% HST, so if I bought online, I only get 11.5% vs. if I bought in store, I get 13%?

No. 11.5% pre-tax is the same as saving the 13% tax.

100 - 11.5 = 88.5 * 1.13 = 100

Wow, talk about a lazy online e-commerce team. "We are only in 4 provinces currently with 4 different HST/GST scenarios. Instead of building a discount amount tied to the online user's provincial delivery address, let's just call an 11.5% discount across the board an average of the discounts and give them that." Hmm, SK is 11%, BC is 12%, ON is 13%. By my calculation, an average of 11%, 12% and 13% is... 12%. Throw in AB's 15% discount and the average should be 12.75%. SMH.

Edit: Based upon their math, it looks like ON does get the correct discount to cover the taxes and BC/SK actually get more than the taxes covered. However, AB gets shafted.

Sorry guys about the wrong info about the online pricing. I was just going by what their flyers stated.

Anyways, I've updated the title and OP with this new info. I've also updated the notes with some of the questions and answers you've asked/given in this thread. Thanks to all that have contributed so far!

BTW, I'm also curious about the $25 voucher and whether anyone was able to use it in conjunction with this deal?
