That's crazy. Aren't today just not 19th. They have sales for Nov 26th already?

Good promo. Too bad you can't use the GC on the purchase to make it $200.

Most likely you have to return the GC as well at the same time.

My house has two thermostats as it's a 2 zone system. Would I need to buy 2 Nest's or would one control both zones? It's a 3 story house.

I have always wondered about this. You bought an item at full price and were given a promotional gift card. Return it and say the gift card value was spent. Rebuy. I don't think they have the right to demand the promotional bonus item back.

Honest question..how are these better than a regular old programmable thermostat? Why do I need a thermostat to learn my schedule when I can just program my schedule instead? Admittedly the app does look cool.

Like most technology, you don't really need it. However, what makes them different is the interface, ease of use/setup, etc. I've found the standard programmable thermostats to be time-consuming to set up/change. But, whether you go Nest, Ecobee, or some other WiFi thermostat - I'm sure the general experience is similar (apps, browser access, ease to change schedule).

I'm sure as part of the promotion there is fine print that they can deduct the amount of the gift card ($50) form the total refund, should it not be surrendered at time of return. Pretty standard practice - it's not their first time at the rodeo.

You could always:

1. Get two Nests from the shelf.
2. Purchase Nest 1.
3. Receive instant GC.
4. Use GC to purchase Nest 2.
5. Receive instant GC.
6. Return Nest 1 with GC from Nest 2.
7. ???
8. Profit.

Unless the GC has unique serial number/bar codes.

Not sure what they will have for Black Friday, but it was $199 at the Home Show and Baby Show earlier this year for comparison.
