This movie is based on a French comic book series from 1967. What's up with that? How are people going to know what their opinion should be when it's not a sequel or reboot? I guess they'll just have to wait to see its Rotten Tomato score to find out what they think about it.

This is right up my alley, but I cannot stand Cara Delevingne... maybe if this movie is good it'll change my opinion of her.

Arriving ahead of the July premiere of “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets,” an exclusive comic will be released for Free Comic Book Day featuring one the stories that inspired Luc Besson’s sci-fi adventure.

Announced by STXfilms, EuropaCorp and Cinebook, the 32-page free issue will contain a preview of “Valerian and Laureline: Ambassador of the Shadows,” the 1975 comic by Pierre Christin and Jean-Claude Mézières that inspired the film, along with behind-the-scenes content. The comic will be available Saturday, May 6, at participating retailers.

Anyone know which comic book store will actually have this free issue? Can only travel by TTC in search of this. Thanks in advance!

^ As long as its on par with "The Fifth Element", I'll still pay to see this type of sci-fi movie on the big screen instead of watching it at home on Blu-ray.

Last year's "Warcraft" was a lot worse than "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice", but instead the latter B v S got the Razzie for 2016.

Unfortunately, "Valerian" doesn't stand a chance at the box office as its opening day is the same day (July 21) as "Dunkirk" already getting amazing reviews. Sadly, this movie has already lost at the very beginning from the start line. However, I'm sure fans of Luc Besson will later turn this into a cult classic much like what happened to "The Fifth Element" in retrospect. Smiling Face With Sunglasses

It seems this movie is getting shafted on release as it's only playing in regular theatres (here in London at least) - no imax, no avx, no vip - sad as I like Besson movies.
