Just put an AMG badge on it. The M badge itself has been watered down. Since the E46 and E60, AMG >>> M
AMG is just as diluted. Plenty of non-real AMG cars have AMG badges. I think AMG started this dilution trend and BWM followed suit.

^ but after you factor in the interest cost on this used one, the difference is not $13K more (if compared to buying new)

Just for illustration:
MY2018 - based M2 $65,200 + say $800 of options = $66,000
current factory credit $1000
Project dealer side discount - 6.5% or $4300
Est. All fees $3000
Add taxes 13%
Less: down $15K

Net amount to finance - $57K
4 yrs at bmwfs rate of 1.9% = $2.2K in total interest

Grand total cash obligation on the purchase = $72K + $2.2K interest = $74.2K

vs

Used one. I am assuming the one @ Pfaff - MY2017 with 37,000km on the clock, listing for $58K
Suppose you negotiate and get it for $56K + taxes - $15K down = $48K to finance @ 5.99% for 3 yrs
Total interest = $4.5K

Grand total cash obligation on the purchase = $63K + $4.5K interest = $67.5K

Projected difference between the new vs used = $74.2K - $67.5K = $6,700.

Note: @ 37,000km for this used car, you may have to take consideration of some of the wearable components which may be in need for replacement within a year or so. Tires and brakes are probably about 60% worn at this mileage. Therefore, that could be another $3,000 in your horizon. If this is the case, the difference from my example has further narrowed down. Just my 2 cents.
hey,
Just saw this calculation. Was wondering how are you projecting the discount of 6.5%? Is that actually possible? I am in the market and this just intrigued me.

Thanks

My buddy was doing some M2 shopping in late March in BC and all the dealers he visited was willing to do 6-7% off plus factory credit (He signed for 7% off and taking delivery in mid May for a base manual M2). Just like any bimmer models, even the M3/4, one can negotiate for around 6% off. Given the M2 is on its way out, if dealer has this in their stock now, I would think 6-7% off can be done. Bottom line is do shop around until a fair discount can be obtained.

Great Thanks. Pfaff is ridiculous. They are claiming to give me $3900 discount, but if you look at their breakdown, they just added BS charges to make up for $2900 then the extra $1000 is the incentive.

I am going to offer 75k all in on this. what do you think of that offer?

You can try to offer $74K all included OTR. (6.5% off + $1000 factory credit and a free tank of gas)

That bogus PDI - M car extra charge must be following what they are doing in Alberta. Haha. This is the first time I have seen an Ontario dealer is trying to pull this off.

maybe the dealer needs to ensure the "M" logo is properly affixed to the correct location.

that's doable. It's just a matter of the dealer willing to unload the car now vs later (much later).

@$75K OTR, you are asking 5% off + $1000 factory and eliminate all those bogus fees. Pfaff would be stupid to turn you down, given none of those bogus fees should be there at the start.

It looks like they’re actually charging a $2,295 M-PDI on top of also charging for the standard $1,295 PDI.

That’s $3,590 in total for PDI — OMG!!!!
