macbook air... 4gb worth it?

So I have some coupons worth about 1500 bucks and can get a macbook air for that price.... (the coupons are like air miles, items have inflated prices). However the macbook air is a early 2015 model so only 4gb.

Wondering is a 4gb Macbook air good enough? I know the new ones have 8gb and am not sure if it's "required". Cause I'm not going to waste my points for something that doesn't work very well. Only if it was upgradable.

I mean if you have no other option that's worthwhile to use points on go ahead, it will be useable for regular computing... but 8gb is pretty much the lowest i ever recommend.

Can you buy giftcards or anything with the points?

Nope, they don't expire so I can wait til something better comes along. But only thing they have thats decent is the macbook air. macbook pro is a 2012 version.

I have a 4GB ram MBP retina and it fits my needs and I don't have any problem with 4GB only

The question in your case is how much a MBA worths. I'd not pay more than 1k for a MBA. They don't even have Retina.

The price is 1299.99 + taxes is around 1500. So inflated $100 above retail and minus 4gb of ram. Other then that brand new.

If it was 8gb I'd grab it in a heart beat (as I do kind of want to use the coupons). I guess I would just do simple stuff. Not sure about video editing as I can do that on my PC. Maybe simple iMovie if I'm doing something at work.

2012 is a pretty old system (i5 2.5ghz, but upgradable. And I would have to pay $ 1700 so $200 out of pocket =/
