Macworld 2009
Anyone excited? I was hoping for new ACDs but they released that 24" LED with very little in incentive to upgrade for the current ACDs as well as the inclusion of their own displayport which is in typical Apple fashion.
There's also rumour of a media server which is what I'm really excited about but in recent days, someone mentioned a Mac Mini revision so it could be an honest mix up of the two. We'll soon see.

I read an unreliable rumour that they'll be announcing a netbook.

17" Macbook Pro with no removable battery? Terrible idea, and typical of Apple. The unibody design is nice, but give me a break. One step forward and two steps back?
Brace yourself for the Apple apologists!_______________
Deal with it.

Did anyone see the Simpsons episode with "Mapple"?
I actually do believe that Steve Jobs thinks he should dictate what we should like... what the hell has Apple been coming out with lately? Why the **** did they get rid of the Firewire port on the new Macbooks? No removable battery in the iPhone was a terrible idea and especially worse for a laptop. Apple laptops had a rep for lasting years but without a removable battery, maybe not anymore.

Even with this supposed new Silver-Zinc battery, you now run into the problem of cost. Even if the battery does last a lot longer (in terms of recharge cycles), you now force people to buy a very expensive battery when they do actually need a replacement.

I'm hoping for an entirely new product segment. Netbook or Media Server. I just donated my Mac Mini which was too cumbersome to operate and maintain for my intended use. The Media Server, if it's real, will be on my purchase list, damn the cost (well, under $1000).
Apple likes to design proprietarily and thus keep you as a customer long after your initial purchase. iPhone/iPods all have fixed batteries since their inception but notebooks? I understand the need to be a harbinger in this business and keep in the tradition of Apple, but they're making more and more boneheaded moves with every revision.

You make it sound as if Apple will "invent" the Netbook sector

Seriously though... if they do, it'll probably be too expensive to compete with the other guys (Asus, Dell, Acer, HP, etc.) on price alone, which is what the definition of a Netbook is supposed to be (for the most part). Either that, or they'll just strip everything out of this supposed design in order to cut costs. Think... Macbook Air but with even less hardware
