Mad Catz Wii Component Cables @ TRU...$24.99

Just bought a set from TRU in Market Mall Calgary...identical to the ones that were being sold for $40-$50 at EB Games (depending on which EB you go to). And better than the $50 FS and BB were selling the Asid's for.

These things are gold plated, 3 M (9.8 Feet) long...sez on the box "PRO SERIES"...don't know if that make a difference or not. Here is link to MadCatz spec site on these:

Not showing on TRU.ca...guy that sold them to me sez they just came in today.

And just as a side note, the Asid's are now at Walmart for $34.98

Thanks for your advice

I got this set at Markville and it makes a lot of difference over the composite! I have not tried the official Nintendo brand, nor the Asid's; but hey 480p is 480p! It has 5 years warranty and for $24.99 is a nice price--EBGames have them too. Play-Asia had the cheapest one--but if you can't wait a week or two visit TRU and EBG!

Yes, you will likely see a difference, it's a little crisper and the colour reproduction is better.

Yes, it does make a big difference. Not only in brightness, but in sharpness too. As mentionned by many people, it is VERY noticeable with Zelda (480i vs 480p).

I thought 480i Zelda looked pretty good on my Acer AT3220 LCD TV, but when I had it at 480p -- WOW!

You won't notice that big of a difference going from 480i to 480p, but you will see it when you go from 480p to 480i.

I took pictures of Zelda 480i vs 480p, but it's pretty much the same image comparison you see all over the Net.

my wii component cables just arrived from play-asia.com (shipping took maybe one week), which cost me $16 shipped

and i noticed a pretty big difference over composite cables. u can actually see the grass in wii tennis!!! usually the grass is really blurry

something that does upset me though is it becomes too crisp... since its no longer blurry, you can see that characters aren't really smooth, they are kind of jagged on the edges

not sure how to explain... like trying to draw a circle using only lines, u can see its not smooth and round, but a bunch of (stairs?)

That's because Wii isn't build with great graphics in mind. If you want great graphics, get a X360 or PS3.

Yeah, I noticed that too with Wii Sport. It gets to a point where the component cable at 480p shows all the imperfection of the graphics. That's normal. I don't think all games were designed for 480p. Especially not Wii Sport. Zelda on the other hand...

Definitely, the composite signal is bloody terrible.

No...it's because Wii Sports is just a demo game and is made to just display the abilities of the wiimote...no time was put into that game...but others I have used like Excite Truck, and Game Cube games, look just fine!

The display is noticibly better, but my main purpose for getting it is so it fits on to the screen properly.

Alright thanks all for your advice.

The second screen of Zelda you shown is really impressive !

I bought the MadCatz one at EBGames. I can notice I difference on the Wii Menu. The blue lines are really smoother.

So even if I don't have HDTV, the difference is there.

Thanks
