Maybe things are picking up again? I ordered something from amazon.ca that ended up being shipped from China using UBI. The item shipped from Shanghai on May 16 and I just received it today, via Flexdelivery! The label itself showed Canada Post expedited parcel. I'm really impressed at how fast that got to me.

I've found UBI to be consistently fast, even faster than ePacket. They seem to be able to get things through quicker than other methods.

Brought something on ebay, it actually got to Vancouver VERY quickly but has been stuck in Vancouver for 3 weeks as you can see from the tracking below. I can only see the tracking info on ebay, nowhere else.

I ordered some clothing (not much, two t-shirts) which shipped from LA on 4/16/18 and hit customs on 4/18/18. The tracking hasn't updated since then.

It wouldn't have been a big package, most likely an envelope. Anyone know why it might not have cleared yet? It will be 5 weeks today from when it hit customs.

This is the longest I've ever had to wait for a package shipped from the US. I'm located in southern Ontario btw.

Just called CBSA "hot-line" about my package shipped from the USA 60 days ago (no tracking, never had a lost package/letter before).
They told me that unless they contain illegal merchandises, packages are never held by Canada Customs for more than 30 days (which we all know is false), and the delay must be attributed either to Canada Post or USPS.
Last week Canada Post told me than packages could be sometimes held by CBSA for up to 3 months, but not more.

What's the true story here?
I've found lots of information about packages getting into Canada from Asia being delayed, but very little about USPS, apart that some says it's usually 10 days to get through (exactly my past experience), but sometimes can take up to 4 months to be delivered. Why such a delay, what exactly is happening over there??

My question is: at which point does one consider there is no more hope and start shopping again for the "lost stuff"?

Here is my experience and definite proof that Canada Post sucks.

Bought lcd screen from Aliexpress and shipped to Canada.

Bought a phone battery from same seller and shipped to Blaine USA mail box.

Both were shipped as Epacket on the same day and the Canada package few hours earlier to be precise.

Within 8 days both packages arrived.

Picked up USA package from Blaine from USPS.

Other package is still waiting for customs processing in Richmond bc.

Tl;dr: Will always ship it to USA

2 days?
I've been waiting 60 days for my package, and still no delivery... some have wait 4 months for parcels from Asia.
Delays of days are expected/explainable by a backlog, delay of MONTHS is a bit more convoluted to explain.
No info anywhere on what/why is happening, except from some fuzzy talk about extra "opioid inspection".
I've called both Canada Post and CBSA, both told me it could take weeks OR months to get through, without any details.

Thank you for that post! At least that gives me a hard number as to how long can stuff be held in customs between USA and Canada.
Thinking that just yesterday on the phone CBSA told me it can never be more than a month....

That is exactly what I got from CBSA as well. They told me it will never take more than 15 "working" days. I guess this probably only works for those packages with tracking number. My package got cleared a few days later after I called.

Which means, if you have tracking number (which is accepted by Canada Post), call them and they will look into it. If not, suck it up, sadly.

No. Normal.

SF Express is another courier on CBSA shitlist, almost 2 months now.

Winit items shipped by HK Post also seem to be getting close to that. Is there somehow to avoid these and only get ones shipped by China Post?

China Post is just as bad.

But if you want to pick the courier, I like AliExpress for that. It tells you exactly which courier and method will be used for the shipment, not just generic terms like "Standard International Shipping" like you see on eBay.

No, it's not.

I've had 100 China Post parcels delivered this year all in under a month, usually 2-3 weeks; whereas HKP is a month minimum, and usually closer to 2.

*shrugs* I think that's unpredictability at best. I wouldn't expect that to last.

But maybe I'll use China Post for the next thing I buy just to see.
