Check HK EMS ToS for guaranteed delivery time, and ask the seller to request shipping fee refund from EMS if it passed.

That is principally correct, if seller and buyer cooperate in a fair manner. I have singled out vendors I can trust and vice versa. But there are some unresponsive vendors that simply dig their heals in, don't start investigations, and are only interested in the buyer's money. As to stats, I went through some RG...CN tracking numbers on trackitonline.ru: typically sorting is reported in Mississauga and the item arrived in Calgary 2 weeks later. Not anymore: stuff sorted 8th of January is still stuck somewhere in between....for RF...CN numbers sorting in Canada is also reported in most cases. But there are also cases of delivery where most of the tracking was not reported. In summary: tracking is unreliable and stuff can show up unexpectedly. 101 days for some of my items now, 98 days for most others!!

Can anyone comment if the epacket option through Aliexpress is worth it and noticeably faster? I might start using that instead of eBay. On average my packages have been taking 4 months to arrive!

I've had good success with ePacket this year. I had two things actually come in less than a week - through Vancouver. Another took 20 days, but the hold up seemed to be in China, not in Canada.

Here are the tracking numbers. One of them was never marked as delivered, but it was.

It is a lot quicker. I usually received ePacket stuff in 10-14 days (Ottawa area). You can always privately message the seller on eBay and see if they will agree to send via ePacket for a few $$ more?

I don't think so. I like that AliExpress actually tells you specifically which shipping method is going to be used, rather than the general terms that eBay uses, like "Standard" or "Expedited". So you can look for sellers that offer ePacket, which you can often get for only $2-4 extra, which usually isn't enough to negate the savings of buying from China.

Although I have seen some sellers charge $10+ for ePacket. I just stay away from those sellers.

Well looks like the package I ordered Jan 4 hit Regina this morning and left by flight less than an hour later. So barring it getting jammed up in the Concord facility it should be the final stretch.

I ordered something through Amazon on NOVEMBER 25, but Chinese seller, which I didn't realize at the time. Didn't make it for Christmas, my husband's birthday, my birthday, or Valentine's day. I just bought it at Giant Tiger in the hopes of tricking it into coming.

Hard to say that's for sure any Canadian's fault though. Check the tracking on 17track.net, which will show you the tracking in China too: https://www.17track.net/en/track?nums=LM198749751CN

You have to translate the chinese stuff to english (in Chrome, right-click, translate), and you'll see this:
2017-02-08 22:50 Guangzhou, left Guangzhou City to New York Kennedy Airport (transit)

If that's accurate, it seems like the delay was either in China or New York. The next day it says it came into Canada and was delivered in 5 days.

I've recently ordered from aliexpress and amazon orders from china and the packages arrived at normal times. However I am still waiting for a rather expensive package. $180USD from Hong Kong.... I ordered Nov 15th... I really hope it eventually comes. I would hate to lose that money...

Ordered item from Japan on Feb 9th, shipped EMS Feb 12th near Tokyo, received Feb 17th in Toronto.

Still waiting on several China/HK/Malaysia items from November and December.... If customs is here to protect me, why are they delaying my:
  • bike lights
  • cable for my dashcam
  • electric toothbrush heads
  • battery-powered motion sensor night light
  • grocery bag dispenser (so I can stop throwing them out)
  • reflective jacket to keep in my car in case of emergency breakdown

update on 17track or CanadaPost? My item by Singapore Post on Dec. 24. "Arrival at Destination Post " on Feb 7.

Any different between "Arrival at Destination Post " and "Arrival at Destination country"?

Items ordered beginning of this year which is usually known for deep drop in purchase orders volume, aren't representative of the trend we discuss in this thread. What's interesting for me in your data, it shows a) ePackets are low cost product of China EMS jointly with USPS ( SHANGHAI EMS Sorting Center, Китай - CNSHAD), b) workload and processing priorities are about the same in Richmond and Mississauga, and seems to be largely dependent on current policy rather than parcels volume.
