Maintenance / Downtime Information Page?

Ther have been several periods when the forums have been available for a couple of hours at a time, over the past few weeks. The last occurance was this morning, from 0500-1000.

Would it be possible for an information page to be setup for these instances? I believe that once a message was posted on the main page of RFD, but I didn't see any there this morning.

There is an IRC channel out there, but loading up mIRC and connecting is an annoyance, and not possible for me to do at work.

I realize that some of these downtimes may be un-anticipated, but even an estimation of when the forums will be back up would be helpful.

Yeah it would be nice to have some sort of status page on the front page.

Make it less stressful on us junkies needing our fix.

I'd like to see a countdown timer until service restoration, or at least an "Oops! Sorry!" kind of page.
