Can anyone help me find this? I'm having trouble finding what I'm looking for and I don't know if I'm using the wrong search terms or if it simply doesn't exist. I want to separate the left & right channels from a male 3.5mm jack (plugged into an MP3 player, phone, laptop, etc) into two 3.5mm female jacks, so I can plug a Monoprice portable speaker into each one, that would then give me stereo sound.
Here's the speaker (I have 2): http://www.monoprice.com/products/pr...seq=1&format=2 EARN CASH BACK

I think you're looking for an Audio jack splitter?
it cuts the sound in half though from my experience and makes the volume lower.

Check your local dollar store first. Many of them carry items like this for $1 - $2.
But you probably will have to do some rewiring. Using a standard 1 to 2 splitter with no wiring changes will result in your both mono speakers playing the same channel (Left or Right or more likely both combined, depending how the speaker input is wired). You either need to reverse the wiring on one of the jacks or cables, or more likely cut one side on each (Left on one side, Right on the other).Last edited by JamesA1; Jun 12th, 2012 at 04:27 PM.

Thanks for the replies, but neither is what I'm looking for. All those things change 1 stereo input into 2 stereo outputs. I need to change 1 stereo input into 1 left channel out and 1 right channel out. All I've been able to find that does this has RCA connectors for outputs, but I need female 3.5mm outputs.

You probably aren't going to find exactly what you are looking for, so make it. Get a standard splitter cable and just cut the left signal lead to one side and the right signal lead to the other.

Close... instead of the RCA left/right ends, I need a female 3.5mm end

Well, if no such cable exists, I'd rather not take anything apart or cut wires, etc, so I guess I could use this (as suggested above):

with a couple of these?:
