Scary...take care when arranging meetings like this. Never know if you're just being trolled for a cash grab. The victim seemed to have done most of the right things in terms of meeting place, etc. Only thing I would have done different is meet up at an earlier time, but that's just me. I've heard of people meeting up at bank machines for larger transactions but that scares me even more...
TORONTO, Ont. - Toronto police are searching for four suspects after an armed robbery in a Tim Horton's parking lot in the city's east-end late Thursday night.
The incident took place at Consumers Road and Victoria Park Avenue at around 11 p.m.
Police said a man meeting to buy some electronics in a per-arranged Kijiji deal when he was pepper-sprayed and robbed of around $2,000 by four masked men armed with guns.
There are reports one of the bandits was armed with a machine gun.

pretty messed up. although i probably wouldn't be doing a high-end trade at 11pm in a parking lot.

The way I read it from the Global TV article, it sounds like they arranged to meet inside the restaurant, but no one showed, so the buyer returned to his car and that's when the robbery happened. So these guys were likely lying in wait outside watching him carefully. I've certainly been asked "What do you look like"/"What car do you drive" prior to meeting up...

Dumb. Common sense tells you to meet indoors where there are other people around.

Seller should have met inside first so the video camera there would have recorded the suspect then go to the car...sometimes if its large item buyer was to met outside...The suspect more than likely park far away from the suspect on a different street or walked over..he cant stupid enough to park in Tim Hortons parking lot...I sometimes do deals at night but always in a coffee shop or Micky's...never inside a car....

I met up with someone from RFD and another forum. The difference was there were many of my posts for him to sift through to decide whether or not I was going to take the money and run. We met and he phoned me and identified my by me answering the phone. We figured out where we wanted to trade and we were off. That was at Yorkdale.
I used that money ($1900) to buy something from someone I messaged on Ebay. Me and the Ebay guy talked for 1/2 hour, so he knew I was serious about what I wanted. We met at Fairview, he brought a friend, I didn't. I identified them by finding the two guys that didn't look like they belonged there (they LOL'ed when I told them that).
Both exchanges were in the day and in malls.

I never have the money on me when I meet up with someone. And I prefer to do transactions at people's home. If someone is going to invite you into their home they won't rob you.

I generally don't meet up with anyone from the East end. Never a problem after around a hundred meets from clubrsx, clublexus, rfd, kijiji and CL.

This post is so funny. Doing transaction by himself at 11pm on east end. Tell them what he looks like instead of them coming in and phoning on the phone when they get there. Carrying 2000 cash.
The victim epic failed. A fool with their money are soon departed, literally! Lesson learnt.
