Is this targeted? How did OP hear about the promo?

Doesn't look like that promo is available to the public on their website; either that, or I'm just completely missing it.

Has anyone that's signed up gotten confirmation their rate will be 3.35%?

I used OP's link and opened my account just a few minutes ago. Here is what I am seeing when I login online:

Good enough for me! Thanks! Was hoping that it would just be a link-based promo.

As an existing user, I used the link and set it up fast as well, and going to the new account I found the additional promotional 1.85% listed there on top of 1.5%. Not sure how the previous post from an old user had problem seeing it.
Regarding the experience, there is no hassle to transfer the money in and out from/to other banks online. And it is pretty reliable to me. No fees so far, interest paid every month. T5 was received in time every year.
Hope it helps.

Do you need to deposit some money right away when you open the account? Else you would have $0 and are charged with monthly fee?

The fees are for ABM, Debit card purchase, Bill Payment and sending Interac only. And they're waived with 1000 in account.

So to confirm, I can create an account, transfer my money and in 6 months transfer it back and pay $0 in fees no and 6 months later? Can I leave the account open with $0 afterwards?

After you open your account - click on your account number online and it will bring up a screen showing account details including interest rates of 1.5 % plus promo of 1.85 ; date account opened and date of promo end....very informative compared to some other banks where you can't see your rate. Very impressed with ease of account opening and linking of external bank account with first deposit on mobile banking ap

How do you link external accounts? Can it be done within Manulife site like how it's done in tangerine?

Yes, but they do have a $20 inactivity fee after 2 years, but they say they will notify you first and you have 30 days to create activity to avoid the fee.

No....it appears you can either mail in a void cheque to them or link your external account through the mobile app by taking a pic of it and sending it in or they say they will link your first deposit if you deposit via their mobile app. There does not appear to be any other way that I could see

If you use your Manulife Advantage account to pull money from your external bank account on let's say a Monday, on what day does the money leave your external bank?
