Marine fish tank advice

I have a old 20 gallon (about 3 years old) before I had Marine fish in it with live rocks, etc etc. after a while i wasnt able to take care of the setup so i gave away the fish. but still have the live rock and salt etc. Now I want to make up the same setup again, I was wondering if i could use the same old live rock that I had before and buy some more to add in? would that be bad?

Let me put it this way.

If your live rock has just been sitting out in a box- It ain't live rock anymore !

Salt will be fien but live rock is now just "Rock" I would not use it in a new set up - there is no point

The rock is not live. It is only called live rock because there are bacteria, algae, sponges, etc living in the rock.

The rock is used for natural filtration of the tank.

Not all rocks can be live. The main rock is composed of dead coral skeletons etc. That is why it attracts the other organisms.
