this game is hard when you face higher level opponents.. you can never have enough time to charge up for megastrikes
it's hard to score goals just by passing and kicking though, so try to use your sidekicks instead of relying on the megastrikes, unless you're wide open..

slide tackle is when you press the down arrow on the wii mote. instead of knocking your opponent down and send the ball flying, you will just daze them and gain possession of the ball.
stealing the ball in the air you just tackle the guy that's about to receive it then stand in the circle where the balls going to drop

charge the ball and lob pass the ball around until the ball is even more charged and go for one-timers. I get many goals like that. Basically get good at scoring at the various different ways as each way of scoring can prove useful in different situations.

i could never score one timers consistently..
not even in the practice rounds where you can do basically do whatever you want without any defense -_-

crystal cup... is damn hard at the end when you try to beat diddy...
first you need to play the 10 games to get there, then the challenge tournament and then 2 dimes on diddy.. diddy is the hard part...
because we can never get the super strike off... and the dreaded Red Card...

yeah, me and my gf had a hard time with that as well... we ended up cheaping our way out after she got frustrated with our 10th attempt by scoring with our sidekicks/captain, then goal camping. its cheap, but it works (i gave up on the game after i beat diddy... i don't expect to be able to beat petey
)
we made our team 3 bones + DK, so it was easier for us to get good with scoring with sidekicks only. trickshots (we used bones' tele shot) helped alot when we lost DK

advice
Hey... i caught on to this game pretty fast, and the best ways of scoring is not through traditional charging & shooting (you can do that with boo's, charge then if somebody tries to tackle you teleport out of their way and pass it to a shooter), but through tricks.
Here is a link to a video of a good guy that I used to play against... but now that I have sold my wii looks like i wont be playing any more.
anyways he gives you a tutorial of how to do some really good tricks. The button to use is Z (lob button) for half the tricks. he's made a clan and everything... i dont have time for that I just played casually but still beat him half of our games

I got really annoyed with Diddy when I played with 4 players...but I realized it was much easier with one player, because the stage uses lasers and stuffs to remove Diddy's team...
Anyway, here's a cheap trick if you don't want to go through all those matches after losing..
1. Wherever you are in the cup, say before the first match of the knockout series, do a save and quit.
2. Go back to your Wii menu, and go to your save settings.
3. Transfer your current save of Strikers onto your SD card.
4. Go back to the game.
5. If you lose in a knockout, restore your save file from your SD card onto your Wii...and voila! You're right back before the knockout match!
This helped me a lot..I got my ass kicked by Petey too many times before I beat him! Saves a lot of time too!
Tips: Use Boo, his Deke is awesome when it comes to scoring. Use it right before you meet the goalie, and you'll pass through, making it an easy shot.
