Well the rear brake job would account for the extra cost, but $948 seems steep for a regular maintenance & rear brake job.

Markham Honda
I have a 2003 honda cr-v. 49500km
I went to markham honda and asked any maintenance i have to do.
Express service guy said, i have to do service D.
I told him i already changed oil and filter last week and i get free tire rotation from costco.
They (Markham Honda) changed allergi filter(glove box),changed transmission fluid, power stering fluid, rear break pads.(they said, they changed those. But, i don't know, they really changed those). They took just 2 hours. They charged me $948.
I think, it's too much to pay just for maintenace. $948
Markham honda charge me around $400 every time i go there for maintenance. This time $948.
Is that normal to pay $948 just for maintenance?

I bought my cr-v from Markham honda.I do all my regular maintenance at Markham Honda.Because it's better to keep my maintenance record same place to keep the waranty valid.

Um.. you don't have to go to the same dealer to keep the warranty valid. You can go to any other Honda dealer in Canada.

You've been scammed. And why on earth would you change your power steering fluid at 60K??? Do you experience problems with steering?

Your warranty is valid as long as you get your regular oil changes completed at any Honda Dealership. Honda warranty is valid at any Honda joint, not at the dealership you purchased at.
Do not worry about their other services, and then at 80k(or 5yrs not sure, depends on car) interval you will have your usual maintenance items listed for your car. The dealership is scamming you, and your rear does not require a change this early, your fronts maybe(city driving), but rear brakes replacement is too early given your very low KMs. I am surprised they didn't tell you it is advisable to replace the rotors also, and the timing belt.Last edited by Engi-Nir; Oct 1st, 2008 at 11:14 AM.

I don't drive much.I use my car to go to work and shopping.
I drive 10,000 km/year
I don't even break hard.
But, i always use parking break when i park. Some time i pull hard parking break.
I heard, parking break good for the transmission.
I know, most people don't use parking break.
Even Markham Honda dealer don't use parking break.
Because ,after the servise they park my car without use(pull) parking break.Last edited by donye; Oct 1st, 2008 at 12:11 PM.

I bought my Honda and had same concept in mind that to maintain warranty I need to go to Honda. So I end up spending over couple of thousands in different types of services.
During a get together, I met somebody who had worked at Sisley Honda. He told me that you need to get your service done but not from Honda. He told me to go Midas or Candian Tire or any CAA referred garage and then I started to go to one of garages. They used to do all checks as advised in Factory Maintenance Schedule.
For type 4 service once I paid $600 to Parkway honda whereas this garage charged me $89 only.Last edited by leafnation5; Oct 1st, 2008 at 11:18 AM.

you got scammed.. just go to another mechanic and keep all your receipts for your work and warranty will still be valid.

But, if i do my regular maintenance with same honda dealer, i don't need to keep all the receipt for the warraty.because theier computer have the record.
But if i do the regular maintenance different dealer or garage (even different honda dealer) i have to keep the receipt for the waranty.

My honda cr-v has factory warranty 100,000km/3year.
But i bought extended warranty for 7 years when i bought the car.
I paid $1500 for the extended warranty.
But, i don't know, the 7 years from when i bought it or from after factory warranty expired.
I don't drive much. So, i follow years.(not km)
I change oil every 5 months.(honda manual says change oil every 6 months)Last edited by donye; Oct 1st, 2008 at 11:29 AM.
