SPA type massage sure, a small tip.

Any medical related massage that requires a doctor's note for insurance claims then of course not. In fact it could be taken the wrong way, and make things awkward for follow up sessions.

If you really want, maybe a gift card or something simple at xmas if your a long time client.

My RMT bills my insurance $400 for a 1 hr session. Sorry, you aint getting a tip LOL.

But the middlemen do take a cut but still, that aint the same as those $30/hr massage places.
Umm, you are getting totally ripped off.

Yep.

I don't tip my dentist, I'm not tipping an RMT.
Whenever someone asks a question that starts with "Why do they..." or "Why don't they...", the answer is always a) money, b) stupidity, or c) both.

Saw the post on tipping but this brings up a separate issue about massage therapists (RMT). It seems they expect tips but it is really a medical service. It seems that many of the POS payment machines are set up like restaurants asking how much do you want to tip?

If the service is covered by insurance, does the insurance cover the tip or am I expected to pay that out-of-pocket? If I have a business lunch, I can claim the tip on an expense report but is it the same principle with massage therapy?

Why do RMTs think that they are eligible for a tip for a medical service? The service is not cheap so there is no argument for subsidizing a low wage.
This is such BS. When I see this at POS machines for RMT, I advise them that is why I am never seeing them again.
For legal topics and discussions, the opinion, guidance, and thoughts provided are my own and are not considered to be legal advice, in any manner.

Yes if it's a spa like place, they do accept tips.

No , your receipt for insurance claims will.not show the tip. So I cannot claim the final amount, with the tip.

I tip my dentist after a root canal

$1100 for 90 minutes of work ain't enough. The man's gotta eat.

My wife and I have been to Scandinave Spa and a few other spas in Vancouver with RMTs, and the RMTs always leave a tip envelope for us.
Great! Now someone can call their governing body and report it.

You guys see those videos on YouTube about chiro? The people who get them look so relieved after a session. As a chronic cracker myself I'm wondering if they work or it's all black magic.
More like pseudoscience.
