I never said they sounded worse, I am saying that they've been superseded by the HD660S, you're just pulling words out of thin air.
You said they are outdated... so you're saying HD650s are obsolete, which is pretty close to saying they are worse.

Looking at the photos of this drop on the page:
1. I haven't seen anyone wearing a pair of 6xx in the open/outside.
2. I haven't seen any good looking people wearing large earcup headphones....
These are statements. What's your point?

That's not what he said. It's what you deduced / interpreted.

There's a reason for each of the personal observations.

Man... headphone threads are always such a hard read. The HD650, HD600, HD6XX are a steal at 199 USD so these are as safe as things are ever going to get in Headphone land in this price range. There hasn't been any sorts of headphone technology or driver revolution in the last 20 years, it's been electrostatic, dynamics and planars with different material mixes so NO, they are not going to get outdated just because a new number showed up.

If you're looking in this price range, skipping these would be a terrible idea.

Cheers,

Doesn't the bass suck in these headphones? Similar to all other Sennheisers? They need to work on low end and bumping some decibels around 20-50 hz area. HD598 is also missing that area big time. Id go with beyar dynamics DT770 is my choice but would be closed back.
You might be thinking of the 598s. The bass does not suck at all for the 600/650 - I use the 650s daily at home and the dt770 daily at work. The 650s def need an amp to drive though.

Tax/duty/brokerage to Ontario should be around $60-70 CAD I'm guessing?
I paid 50 bucks in duties when I got them from the first drop they did, I’m in Ottawa though

What exactly is 6xx headphones? 600 and what? I have 650 and 580, it seems strange Sennheiser would use such weird naming .

It's a 650 with different paint and shorter cord.

Someone needs to get you a dictionary, I said they were obsolete, and last time I checked, obsolete meant the following, so instead of getting triggered, think first, post second:

"....of a discarded or outmoded type; out of date..."

http://www.dictionary.com/browse/obsolete

The HD650's came out in 2003, the HD700 in 2012. These have alleged HD700 drivers, while not proven a reasonable assumption is that Sennheiser felt the need to differentiate between the 650 and the 660S - if things are close enough they would use a revision number, here's their marketing speak:
The successor of the legendary HD 650 excels with the improved performance of its new transducer design.
Last time I checked, successor means it's replacing an existing design, therefore rendering it obsolete.

That was at $200+15 shipping? Do different cites have different duties in Ontario?

I just received a headphone from Massdrop that cost me $149.99 US in Toronto
Value of $149.99 US - $187.46 Cdn
GST of above to $24.37 plus handling fee of $9.95
Total $34.32 to the post delivery person.

So my guess would be about $42.00 extra to Toronto, that one might pay to the Post Office (Canada Border Service Agency)

I'm guessing all of Ontario pays the same tax?
Also is duty on top of tax only a clothing import thing or for electronics too? And brokerage fees are random?

Brokerage fees are definitely random, unless you're a business and have an account with a broker. Duties depend on what the product is and where it's made and then taxes are on top of everything AFAIK.
