looks like rebranded akorn kamado - great intro to kamado cookers - mine lasted 4 years until the bottom ash pan completely rusted. upgraded to the pit boss kamado :)

$499 is CT's inflated reg price. For the time machine this bbq has been down to $199

Does look like a rebranded akorn.

My large akorn has sat mostly unused but in great shape.

My smaller akorn sees all of the action. The bottom vent split after a year possibly due to heat. Going to warranty it and see how it goes.

This one looks like your big unused or small splitted Akorn?
Any cover to recommend?

It's looks like the normal sized akorn.

Can't help with the cover. Mine has a cart and I wheel it in the garage after each use. It's a metal kamado... metal and humidity don't mix.

Thanks ...
Metal like propane bbq ...
They will eventually rust, but with a cover ... you still extend its life expectancy.

On my side, my garage and shed are already too packed.
So I don't want to add a big piece like this in them.
Also, the deck location (cooking area) vs shed/garage isn't next to each other.

Have the Akorn for about 5 years, gave the interior a good cleaning this spring and its in excellent condition, no visible rust.
Store it under a covered porch in summer and in the garage during off season. Its light enough to easily move around. If water doesn't get trapped between the insulated walls it may just last a lifetime.
Someone in an earlier thread mentioned drilling a hole at the bottom just in case water found its way in. I don't think drilling through the interior ash holder (I spray mine with canola oil) would be a good idea but maybe the outer shell.
It looks like the Akorn also comes in ceramic now here.

Canadian Tire Woodstock (ON) has a couple of the Kamodo Style smoker/grills on clearance for $249 - down from $500.

They *function great. I have used my Chargriller (same model) every day for 5 years or so. Some of the internal stuff is rotting out, but it still cooks better than any gas grill out there. I don't need another, but thought about buying one for a spare. LOL

But out of curiosity, have you found a cover that fits that grill?
