Maxima Burning Oil

My 2003 maxima is burning oil. This is the second time I did an oil change since I own it. When I got the car I had an oil change. There is no leak and car doesn’t smoke. It’s high mileage car (over 180K), what are my option other than trying High Mileage oil? i'm using 5w30 regular oil.

How much oil is it burning? More than 1 litre per 5000 km?

Perhaps before you do that, you should check your oil levels every 1,000 km with your current oil to establish some some of point to reference as to the rate of oil consumption between oil changes - then try high mileage oil and see if it makes any difference at 1,000 km intervals.

btw how many kms did you go b/n those oil changes ?

Did you get your oil changes done at a shop or did you do it yourself ?

This is a known issue with the maxima. Mine burns too, and it doesn't smoke. About 2 - 3 litres every 5000kms.
Its the seals, and it won't be easy to fix or cheap.
Just keep an eye on it, and keep topping it up.

absolutely right, it's wll known issue with VQ motor (depending on year).
you can't do much, with resale values as it is drive it to the ground or if you have good opportunity sell it and run away from nissan.
