I've dealt with him twice and the deals went down in person, so I didnt have any problems. He only recently moved out and was having problems getting by with rent, but shortly after he asked me about buying a 17" CRT off me, so I thought he was OK for money again...?
Anyways, I drive by his apartment every weekend when I goto work, and I didn't see any obvious signs of fire for the building itself. But then again, it just might have been a small fire in his suite?

He told me that when he gets the insurance he'll get the money back to me. I PMed him on the 26th of november (the fire apperantly happened on the 4th) just asking how the insurance is coming along as he has yet to reply. After I got the original PM on the 5th I did call the edmonton (EiS lives in edmonton) fire dispatch and asked if there had been any fires on his street, the lady I was talking to said that there had been no calls made the adress he gave me. Again I guess it's possible the fire department wasn't called or the lady might have not done a through enough search but I find that hard to belive. Anyways the only other thing that doesn't make much sense is that he gave me his home phone number in a PM before the 'fire' on the 4th. I called this number on the 5th of november... and he answered. He told me that it was his friends number and not his... but why would he give me his friends number before the fire even happened? Nothing is really adding up.
Anyways if anybody here has any suggestions I really apperciate it.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry to hear of your bad luck....I've dealt with Albert a few times, never a problem. I know he lost his job a couple of months back, but I haven't heard from him for a while and never heard of any fire.
I have an address for him if you want to PM me. (maybe the same one you have, but maybe not)

ok.. I just called Albert. I got a hold of him. I didn't go ballistic as much as I should have. Basically asked him what the deal was and he made up some random excuse about his insurance not going through or something, said some guy entered the wrong account number (???) and basically that I'm never going to get my money back. He said he didn't have a job atm (neither do I -_-) and he's getting evicted from his apartment and he's really tight for cash. w/e. I told him that I called the Edmonton fire dispatch and that no fires were reported for his address and he sorta just went silent… didn't try to fight it at all. So yeah he is, without a doubt, lying about the fire in his apartment. I also told him that if I don't have my money within a month I'm going to contact the police, I said I didn't want to but I mean $185 is $185, especially when your unemployed.
I don't hate him for it, if I ever end up getting my money back I'll obviously forget all of this but man it's just such a pain in the ass.

You've just confirmed what I've suspected for quite some time. I think the both of us should give him some negative heatware for the moment. We should also get in touch to formalize our plan to getting our cash back.

Wow this sucks. I know of EIS from Bigfoot, and have conversed about a few topics. He had some some small modding stuff for sale I was going to grab, but he does not do EMT soI never persued it any further.
Hope this all works out for the good.

That's just too bad. If he has no money, he could at least return your memory

i am sorry to hear of this happening again.
in my opinion you have given this person way too much time.there is no sense in giving him more time or feeling sorry for him either.people who scam you start out from the beginning to do so imo.personally i would get the police working on it right away, do not wait another month.
this guy could have returned your property if he was honest.but he didnt.
in order to stop the thieves who target the forums we need to prosecute them, and it should be done quickly.
it is getting to the point where there is no trust anymore, and until we put an end to these scammers by having them charged i dont see trust returning.
i dont mean to rant here, its just my opinion

I just phoned EiS again :p I basically told him that if the parts or the money isn't shipped by next Wednesday we're going to contact the police. He was pretty silent for the entire conversation, I'm not really surprised. Not much he could say to save himself... I did tell him that if he shipped the parts I would let the whole thing blow over (which I will). I really hope he makes the right decision.

Negative heatware just left. I'm gonna phone him in a bit after I go out and pay the bills.
