MBNA - Premier Rewards Platinum Plus, no annual fee - 1% cashback (not tiered)

I just called and she told me I can't switch to the smart cash card from my premier rewards card, but I can apply for it???
Has anyone tried to switch their MBNA card recently and succeeded?

I just called in today and got it switched.. I was just with the preferred card previously though. I called to cancel, which I really wanted to.. and that was the first thing they offered

On the website, smart cash platinum card already has $0 annual fee.
What's the reason to get a simple one and call in and get to retention center to get that card?
I think I'm getting something wrong here

it was just on the website probably a few days ago. It was not avaliable on the website before.
