MBNA Smart Cash MC: *FREE* World Version available!
Current card design (as of post last edited date):

Convert from other MBNA Cards:
If you want to convert your current MBNA card to the Smart Cash, you have to call MBNA and threaten to cancel your previous mbna card, the mbna rep will then forward you to retentions, and the retention rep will upgrade it to the Smart Cash after hearing "why you want to cancel" (not 100% guaranteed, though 90%+). If the retention rep won't do anything after hearing your "reasons", tell him directly that you want the Smart Cash and ask if he can convert for you. MBNA won't simply convert other cards to the Smart Cash anymore for some reason. However, there are instants where you can still convert through a normal MBNA rep, VERY VERY YMMV.
How this card works:
You get 3 points per dollar spent on gas and groceries (5 points during promotion period), 1 point per dollar after the $600 monthly cap limit (calendar month NOT statement cycle month), and 1 point per dollar for everything else. Once you reach 5000 points, a $50 cheque will be sent to you. Cheque usually gets to you in 6-8 weeks (YMMV, could be less) after the statement where you reach 5k points.
Canadian grocery/gas merchants that gets 3% cashback: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/8587299-post411/
(Note: It is possible to get 3% from international gas/grocery vendors as long as they fall into the MC grocery/gas merchant codes)
(Note #2: It is also possible to NOT get 3% from local gas/grocery vendors if they DO NOT fall into the MC grocery/gas merchant codes)
6 months promotion:
Once you are approved for this card, you get a period of 6 months where you earn 5 points per dollar on gas and groceries until you reach the $600 monthly cap (drops back to 1 point per dollar after that). The 6 months promotion starts on the date that your card is approved (NOT the date it was activated), and ends after your 6th statement.
World Version Upgrade:
It is possible to upgrade to the World Version right now for no annual fee if you have a salary of $70,000 or more or if you spent $20,000 or more on the card annually. The upgrade will take up to 5 business day to go through. Once upgraded, the card will give you another 6 months of 5% cashback for groceries/gas (starts the moment your card is converted), price protection (up to $500) and concierge service. To check if you qualify for the upgrade, you can : (1) call mbna, (2) log into the website for Smart Cash cardholders (listed below) and click on "Special Offers". If you don't qualify, the page is blank, or (3) check through MBNA Online Access - Rewards tab. You are able to apply for the World version now if you don't qualify for the upgrade (application on top of post). Since your card # will change after the upgrade, all per-authorizations will have to be setup again.

(Note: If you can't login, try again with the Français section, once logged in, switch back to English)
TD Takeover
No one knows what is going to happen to the Smart Cash MC until TD takes action. You bet the OP will be updated right away once I hear/see something regarding this.

Does this have the same features as the Enrich Platinum (or better)?
The 3% for groceries will make a difference.

Same thoughts
I think this is actually targeted to compete with the momentum. Being platinum and NO annual fee helps.

I'm going to apply for this one I think. Hopefully MBNA gives me another card after I maxed out their first one (limited 0% BT rate).

If that's accurate, along with the added cashback for gas/groceries, this is hot. Calling in first thing tomorrow to verify and upgrade my Platinum Premier Plus.
