Have PRP+ what's the best thing to do
I have the PRP+ since Feb and have already put close to $1000 on it because of a house reno (I also have the amex gold with 2% reward, thanks to Redflagdeals but the shower door vendor wouldn't take amex). Now what's the best way to get Smart Cash and still keep my approx. $10 rewards? Should I call them up and ask them to split the current card to 2 ? Should I apply for a new card which might take another credit score hit? I am thinking about refinance my mortgage because it's 4.98% fixed but so far I haven't found an offer worthy of switch as it will cost us about 2500 to break existing mortgage. The mortgage expires about 2 year from this June

That's what I did. I tsf 'ed part of my credit limit from PRP+ to the Smart Cash and will be keeping both until the end of the year. I've accumulated some cash rebate on the PRP+ card and don't want to give it up.
At year end , after the rebate hits my PRP+ statement, I'll shut it down.

I know there's a number of people that's done this [i.e. transfer credit from another card to the new smart cash card]. So for those that did, how much credit did you leave on the original card? $50? $200? $1000...

How about the reverse, what's the minimum you need to transfer to get this new card?

For my PRP+ (original card) I left a lttle over the minimum amount. I think on ANY P+ card the minimum is 5K.

False. You can request an upgrade if they gave you the basic Preferred. It depends on the rep you talk to, if you account is in good standing you can upgrade it without having a $5K limit. Mine was upgraded when my limit was $2,000.

Since my credit limit was $20,000 on my old card, I transferred $10,000 over to the Smart Cash MC.

Hmmmm....things have changed over the years. Never bothered to inquire what the minimum would be. My bad.

Its $10 ... who cares? Just convert it to the SM and forget about the 10 bucks ... I have $70 and I am contemplating converting over ...
At the same time, you will still only have one card instead of having 2 if you split the cred limits; something that could potentially be held against you once you refinance.
