I just phoned the CSR today and don't know anything..they said that I should see my cheques on the next statement. YEA..
As for people being scared with memberworks, what are they going to do with your information? So what if they track your spending habits, why be so scared?
I think people can be over paranoid.

If they only covers 2% for the $600 limit, then their share for the rebate is $12 a month, i.e. $144 a year. If their budget is $1 million a year (i.e. they can recuperate from the companies buying their data), then they can afford 7000 members. If they only half a million budget a year for rebate, then they will stop after getting 3500 members.
Does it hurt to pull so many baseless numbers out of your arse? Why even pretend to know what these numbers are, unless you work in the industry?

I apologize if I have offended you with my baseless numbers. Disclaimer: I am not in the marketing industry and I have no relation with Memberworks or its competitors. Here is the mission statement of Memberworks from its website:
OUR MISSION
To be the premier provider of integrated marketing solutions, which provide consumers unrivaled opportunities to improve their lives through exclusive access to discounts and services while generating incremental revenue and enhanced brand loyalty for our clients and partners.
So the Smart Cash card can obviously be treated as marketing expense as part of the data collection exercise. The numbers in my previous post is just an illustration of the situation. The data collection budget has to come from somewhere and the mission statement sheds the light. As I mentioned before, if one has no privacy issue, there is no problem. If this program is successful, members receive rebate cheques and Memberworks' clients and partners find it useful and happy, then it will continue.

I was wondering if I can apply for another MBNA card? I already have one 0% for 15 months. Is it possible to have two MBNA card. I would really like the 1.99% to help me buy a used vehicle.

I just want to let folks know that I received my SmartCash card yesterday and was able to ask for the 1.99% balance transfer fee for life and get a credit limit increase all when I called to activate my card.
I posted the details in another thread here: http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/s...&postcount=672
Sorry for the cross-post but I figured that not everyone will see that thread and wanted to share the information.

Why would you want to BT to the SmartCash card, you would then not be able to use it for purchases (thus making the card useless)

calculations for smart cash reward is:
round down of statment balance x 1%
plus each individual eligible transactions round down to the dollar x 4%
it should give you the amount stated.
took me a long time to figure out... hmph....

Hmmm my numbers still come out wrong...
I'll try again once I'm more awake though...
I still haven't seen any 'adjusted' MBNA dollars yet :S

Yeah, I know. I thought about that too. Not sure if that was too wise.
However, with the available credit that I have elsewhere, I was worried about applying for another card through MBNA. Plus, with some of the concerns about receiving the cash rewards checks, I figured it may not be a big deal.

Since I didn't need the full $20K for the balance transfer, if I paid say $5K back, could I still take advantage of the promo and the other benefits of the card?

You could, but I believe if you pay back $5,000, then spend $1,000 on gas and groceries, you can't pay off the $1,000 until you've paid off the $15,000 remaining on the BT. So you'll be carrying that higher interest balance for a longer period of time than you'd probably like.
