Just hope MBNA doesn't stop issuing this card like how AMEX did with their 2% cash rebate card. The RFD effect is probably in full force .

Whooa, I just noted something important. I lose all my current Premier Rewards points if I upgrade? How is that fair?!
I can't exactly claim them right now either.

As much as I hate quoting myself from a few posts ago
"if you don't want to lose your points from your MBNA Plat Plus Premier Rewards--call them and ask them to do an Interest adjustment for the value of your points. Your new balance (even if in the negative) will be moved to your new Smart Cash!"

Can you clarify please? If I understand this correct, I don't carry balances, so this "interest adjustment" would not apply to me.

My balance is $0 and I have $25 worth of points. I called and told them I am changing my card and dont want to lose my cash back from my Platinum Plus Premier Rewards card (PPPR). The operator put me on hold.
When she came back she said she cant redeem the points but she can do an interest adjustment (ie credit my balance) for the point value. This would change the balance of my PPPR card and consequently change the balance that gets transferred to the new card.
So if I have a balance of $100 on my PPPR, the new card will have a balance of $100
If I have a balance of -$25 (Due to the "Interest Adjustment") on my PPPR then my new card will have a balance of -$25
Does this make sense?

Ah, I just tried asking a rep about the interest adjustment. I was told, "I'm sorry we cannot do that."

Heh--perhaps I got it for flattering the ego of my rep
"Your a genius! You have really made my day!"
"Just one more thing, if they are recording this call--they should give you a raise"
I guess I got lucky!

Does anyone know if this card has other benefits apart from the cash back.
Car rental insurance for example?

It's apparently a platinum card and should have the "standard" features of any MBNA platinum card which includes car rental insurance and all that jazz. I think the main thing it is lacking is price protection.

Great. I probably wouldn't miss the price protection though.

yes i really think u got lucky. another way is to split the credit limit of your current mbna card to create a new smart cash card. That should not require a credit hit.

15 business days?!? RFD effect is clearly in full swing.
