...so i called into mbna AGAIN, asked if the card was couriered, and was told that my card will not be converted until saturday, and then it will be sent REGULAR MAIL on the coming Monday. I asked for the reason why it wasn't converted/couriered/etc, and they couldnt answer me. FTW eh? I basically gave all the flame I saved over this past two weeks to a supervisor, and she promised that i will get the card on Tuesday the 21st. Right now, I feel lucky as long as I receive the card in one piece. Thou to be fair she did leave me her name and extension so she will be hearing from me again FOR SURE if i don't get the card the coming Tuesday.

On that note, I would like to shared what happened to me with MBNA. It is all resolved now but on Feb 12 I was called by MBNA to informed me that my application of PRP+ was approved and they will be sending my card out and I'll receive the card in 10 business day. I ask them if there is a faster way of getting it as I am going on a trip on the 18th and would like to use my new card. They said if I paid the $10 I can have it within 24-48 hours. I agreed to it. Then they informed me I have already missed the deadline for the day and they will send out the card next day which since I wasn't leaving until late Wed I felt it would be okay. The credit never came before I left. I found the credit card after we got home and the slip on it said it was shipped on Tuesday the 17th. I was not happy. I called them up and asked for a refund on the $10 the csr who answered the phone agreed. A few days later I decided to sign up to check my charge online and notice to my dismay not only was the $10 not reversed, they charged me another $10. Now $20 over charged I called again and another CSR promised me this was a mistake and he would reverse both charges. A few weeks later, I got my bill, not only was the fee not reversed, it was charged again. I was really upset and called them up again. Another CSR answered. Not only does he not want to reverse my charge, he said I accepted the $10 in the first place and I should not get the money back. I tried to explain to him the situation, not only does he cut me off but he claim that I did not let him finish his explanation. After asking to talk to his supervisor and he informed me that one is not available, and several more minutes of talking he agreed to reverse 3x $10. I asked for his name as the other 2 person didn't do it right but he promised if I checked on the website in 48 hours it will be done. I checked and I was charged another 3x$10. At this point I gave up and asked my husband to call instead. Finally they reversed 6x$10. I think I am still out $10 but at this point I'll just live with it. I am not impressed with their CSRs. Where do they find all these brainless boy who can't even do a simple thing like this. I am still mad thinking about it. All this I just want to say make sure you check your statements and ensure they do not charge you that $10 since they didn't send it out to you on time.

Just wow. Were you by any chance speaking to people in India? I simply disconnect the call if I get somebody in India and try again.

a) The GCR/CT method for gas may be "a nuisance", but it totally thrashes this deal because you get 7%-10% back, not a measly 3%. Personally I don't see what the big deal is - once a month I go online and buy some gift cards - big deal.

b) SPG gets you a return of 4%-6% CONSIDERING the best current prices for flight or hotel. If you consider WORST case my calculations show it more in the range of 7%-10%. Also pls. remember where you live... if you live not near a major centre (as I do), then flights in and out are always vastly more expensive, but they still cost the same with points, making the SPG a better bet.

You can just call them and ask for the new card. If you don't qualify, ask them to divide your current limit between your current card and the new card you want.

just read that the new scotia momentum visa gives 2% on drug store purchases and preauthorized bill payments...pretty decent but there is an annual fee $39 on this card

guess the smart cash is better...esp for me since im currently using pc mc...

NP, they might give you back .05 cents, but certinly not the 5-10X bonus money coupons when you pay with a credit card (except CDN tire CC).

1) Buy Canadian Tire gift cards at GCR (receiving 3.5% cash back). Use any credit card you like (insert reward here).

2) Get gas multiplier coupons from Canadian Tire, fill up, use gift card to pay for gas in kiosk. Receive Canadian Tire money (variable % back, 2-4 usually, depending on multiplier and gas cost).

3) You can use the CT money however you like, but a good option is to save it up and then convert it back to a gift card (customer service) to buy more gas.

Well, I decided NOT to get this card afterall. Instead, I'm keeping all my eggs in one basket with the SPG card. It's better to have all your rewards into one big fund, rather than a bunch of small ones. Very tempting, but I've come to my senses. The travel benefits and flexibility of SPG points are untouched. SPG all the way, baby!
