The first guy said I was approved but they needed to verify my info. He said they tried to call me on the 26th, which didn't happen. There's no record on the caller ID, not even from an unknown number, and no message was left, nor did my kids talk to anybody and take a message.
Anyways, he flipped me over to another department so I could find out what it was they wanted.
I get transferred over to some guy who repeated that I was approved and all they needed was a copy of a bank statement. He said it was for proof of address. Now I don't get a paper statement. I haven't for years now. So I asked him if a utility bill would be okay, and he said "no, it must be a statement from a chequing or savings account at your main bank."
I know I could easily call and get a statement mailed to me by TD, but he also told me that my credit limit will be $2500.
I cancelled it right there. I was nice about it, and told him how grateful I was for the approval, but $2500 will just be too much of a hassle for me. Especially when I only plan on using it for 6 months and then tuck it away in my nightstand. I'll push the limit on it every month, easily. And I don't like that. It'll just be one more thing for me to keep track of. He tried to hang on to me as a customer, but to his credit he was not annoying about it.
To perhaps help others judge what kind of limit they might expect: My scores in November were 772 for TU and 777 EQ. I have a little over $30k total for limits across a BMO MC and TD Visa. Plus about $7k in store cards and a $5k US$ Visa. All are paid in full every month. I haven't carried a balance in a few years now.
So I don't know about MBNA being quite liberal with their credit limits. Seemed more like Amex to me, which approved me for $1.5k in November. The only reason I accepted that card was for the bonus Airmiles and I convinced the activation CSR that I would cancel if he didn't waive the annual fee (I'm cancelling that card next November when the AF comes up again.)
It's funny how TD just approved me earlier this month for a $5k US$ Visa without even blinking an eye. So maybe MBNA is just leery of the recent hard pulls on my credit report. So that's fair enough, I guess.
Just curious: Isn't there an annual fee for TD US$ Visa? Or you were able to waive the annual fee on that one too?
Because I thought BMO was the only bank that offered a "no annual fee" US credit card.

Really? I just went to the link to try it, entered the CHSS code, and it came up with the online application form as normal. Did you get an error of some kind?

TD waives the US$ Visa annual fee because I have the Borderless US$ Chequing account.

Hey everyone,
I have one question, just checked my points and I saw the MBNA sometime give 3% for Superstore and SaveOnFood and sometime give 1% (without BONUS) Same stores but different BONUSES. I checked policy and the bonuses should be 3%.
Should I call to MBNA or its normal?
Thanks a lot!

Are you sure you're not going over the $600-per-month limit on the groceries? it goes from 3% to 1% after you do. And then there's the billing cycle issue that relates to that as well.

Just a quick question regarding applying for MBNA cards, has anyone received a call from 613-742-3500? Are they legit and what should I expect from this call? I got a call from them today, but was not home. Googled this number and found out this number is quite sketchy. Any input is appreciated.
Thanks in advance!

Sorry for few simple questions:
1. Does this card have rental car insurance? How does it compare to other VISA/MC/Amex? Does it have the best terms?
2. Are Walmart / Shoppers Drug mart consider as grocery store?
3. Can I buy gift cards in Loblaws / Esso in order to max out of my limits?
4. How is the US exchange rate on this card compared to other cards?

I just hit the www.creditrsvp.com site and entered CHSS and it went to the application page. Still looks active.
BUT---nowhere on the page does it say WHICH card you are applying for. It states a 19.99% card with no annual fee, does NOT say anything about cashback at all.
?
Don't want to apply for a card that's not THE card.
