Anyone receive a call from MBNA last night concerning Balance Transfer for their Smart Cash Card?
I received one from a lady saying they have a 1.99% Balance Transfer promo and asked me if I wouldn't mine using up the rest of the credit I had available on this account to transfer a balance from another credit card.

Got the card. Loving it.
My experience.
Filled out the online form via the link on the first page to apply around the end of Jan./beginning of Feb. Got a robo call about a week later that mentioned they were reviewing my application for the MBNA Shoppers card. Called the next day to confirm they had me in for the Smart Cash. Guy on the phone said, 'Yep, Smart Cash.' He said he could process it for me right then and put me on hold. Came back and said, 'No problem. I can approve you for $x,xxx right now without any problem. Any more questions?' I asked for a supplementary card for my wife and he said sure.
I received the cards about a week ago and have already racked up $15 in rewards. Very happy and their web site to manage my account is so much better than Citi's for my old PP Mastercard.

This is a short story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody, and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about this, because it was Everybody's job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn't do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done.

Heads Up!
MBNA seems to be very difficult to deal with for fradulant transactions.
http://www.redflagdeals.com/forums/m...t-hell-856737/
I've mentioned here before, I'm very nervous with dealing with MBNA, due to the hassles I've gone through just to get a MBNA Smart Cash Card. Now reading this guys experiences in trying to get a fraud transaction removed make me even more nervous in dealing with MBNA, Be careful in dealing with these guys as it seems like they don't care about their customers.

Earlier in this thread some people complained that they didn't get 1% cash back for things like car repairs, dentist fees, and Rogers bill payments. Does this hold true? What are the limitations to the 1% cash back?

In other words, monthly bills should count toward 1%, yes?

Thank you
So I can conclude that the people having problems in the past were able to call in and get their rewards adjusted, and that currently people aren't having problems getting 1% cash back for monthly bill payments (like Rogers), correct?
So, the only issues with this card are that rewards are based on months (not the actual billing cycle) and MBNA caculates rewards per transaction rounded down on the dollar. That is, if I make a purchase for 97 cents, I earn nothing for that item? The way around this rounding down issue is to buy gift cards, correct?Last edited by Webslinger; Mar 24th, 2010 at 04:30 PM.

3% on the first $600 on gas/groceries
does this mean only on the portion within $600 that's spent on gas/groceries
or gas/groceies total up to $600 in a month?

Yes you can conclude that, though I do not recall anyone having issues with not receiving 1% on anything including Bill Payments. There were issues in October/November of people (including myself) not getting 3% on Gas/Groceries (just 1%), but this was all resolved as we later got adjustments for the missing 2%.
If you make a Gas or Groceries purchase for $0.97 cents:
How is it calculated?BASE: GROCERY STORE NAME - CITY, PROVINCE $0.00
BONUS: Smart Cash 3% cash back on gas & groceries (mcc specific) $0.01
TOTAL $0.01
the 3% is calculated in 2 sections.. the Base 1% and the Bonus 2%.
Rounded down to the closest cent ($0.97 * 0.01) = $0.00
Rounded down to the closest cent ($0.97 * 0.02) = $0.01
$0.00 + $0.01 = $0.01
If it were a non Gas/Grocery item, then your cash back would be null on $0.97.
The way around this rounding down issue is to make your purchases exact to the dollar.
Example: If you fill up gas and the pump stops at $39.84, force it to pump all the way to $40
