So i have the premier rewards card and upgraded to the smart cash card today. The representative told me that the rewards i accumulated on my old card cannot be carried forward, and i will lose that credit (ie. lose the 1% on the balance i have accumulated thus far). Has this happened to anyone else??

Yeah very useless. I spoke to head office today and they say they can not help. They said to deal with it trough my CC. Also recieved a letter today from MBNA that was mailed out last week, It has a copy of the signed transaction slip. Hell it is Signed M. Audet. My name is Patrick for god sake. You would figure that MBNA would notice the signature was nothing like mine let alone a different name all together. Waiting now on new card and to be refunded again which should be about 10days from what i am told. One thing though talking to someone smart at MBNA is quite a task. They all seem kind of lost.

MBNA only receives the ticket copy when they request it from the merchant (when doing a dispute). The disputes process is there for completely unauthorized transactions (ie: no ticket copy). In this case, the purcahse was authorized by M Audet, so MBNA has no right to dispute the transaction. However in this case, it is considered fraud, but MBNA doesnt just forward the case, you have to be the one to claim the fraud. It's an annoying process, yes. But I am sure you'll find the charge is credited quickly and any finance chagres are adjusted for you as well.

I received an offer in the mail today for this credit card. It also has a promo of 1.99% for balance transfers for the first 10 billing cycles.
I have been putting all my purchases on the AMEX card to get SPG points for free hotel stays but will give this one some thought._______________

Here is a timeline summary for people considering getting this CC:
1) I applied on 11-May-10 using the "link #17"
2) followed up with a phone call on 20-May-10 -> 1-888-876-6262
3) Received the card in the mail on 29-May-10
I am so happy I can finally dump my PC Financial MC !!
