Wow, this kills every 1% card out there, makes the petro points card obsolete, destroys Scotia Banks new card... If I didn't have the 2% Amex, this would be my primary card for everything... I think it'll be my new secondary card, although primary for gas and groceries... How is MBNA on issuing a second card? I have 10K @ 1.99% for life...

Just got off the phone with MBNA, I was able to convert my old, platinum plus card, (expired 0% promo) into this new smart cash card! Also, to make things better, she also devided the available credit in half and issues me a new, Shopper's Drug Mart rewards card too!! ALL WITHOUT A CREDIT CHECK!! (She stated that since I was using a previous card with availabe credit, she can issue new or converted cards without an application.)
Also, she stated that the cash back card collects points, on a monthly basis and tallied with each monthly statement. Once the points reach an equivilent in $50 cash rewards, a cheque is mailed to you.
I am going to call it out now, that this smart cash card, is the best card on the market. Maybe close or better than Amex 2%, because you can use MasterCard anywhere. You can't even get the AMEX anymore, so that stinks anyway.Last edited by Jungle; Apr 6th, 2009 at 03:09 AM.

Buy Canadian Tire giftcards from GCR for 3.5% off. Buying with credit card earns you cash back (variable 1-2%). Then, purchase gas at the CT gas bar using the weekly multiplier coupon to get around 2% further return. Save up Canadian Tire money, consolidate it on a gift card, buy more gas.

This seems to be a better card than the up to 2% AMEX... What are people's thoughts?
I gotta check with the wife whether she's got an MBNA MC. If yes, we'll call to convert.

The fact that is is Mastercard and not Amex already makes it a better deal. Huge chances of racking up those points because you know it will always be accepted almost anywhere

Anyways, I just hope the design is a killer too. I am not too fond of their card designs. It shouldnt be all about the design but it will be nice to have
