I spent over $40 at a Westin restaurant early September, but I haven't got the first stay points yet. I'm not surprised though, because it apparently can take a few months.

Carvers in the Sheraton Caviler in the NE is pretty good. But might be seperate from the hotel.
The other restaurant in the westin is way over priced.
I received SPG points from dining at Carvers.

When I was in HK in October of 2008 I spent over $40 on food.
In March of 2009 the points showed up.

My card expires in December and I still received my replacement cards this month. Glad that happened because I still have a lot of spending to do before they cancel this card
Hope the new one is as good!

You mean the bonus 5000 points?
If yes, how long did it (usually) take for the first stay bonus to show up?

A little birdie friend with knowledge told me ithe new SPG card will be an amex card and more expensive than the $45 card our American friends get...
I'm very disappointed, didn't want it to be AMEX but i'm not surprised...

Yup. Last rumour I heard before this Amex business was that this was going to be TD's first Mastercard offering. We'll have to wait until March to see what the truth is.

I think there will be an annual fee for the card, no matter who's the issuer - TD or AMEX. I'm very interested to know what kind of sign up bonus they would be offering. 15000 SPG bonus point would be nice.
