Yeah, Tim Hortons is running a GREAT deal right now, if you're willing to drink their coffee -- every third mobile order will give you a free cup of coffee.

Hmmm any size coffee for $1.00 or pay for two and get one free - 33.3% off each.

Let's see:
Given the small Tim's is $1.59 that equals approx $1.00 per coffee - same as McD's
Large coffee is $1.99 that equals about $1.25 per coffee.
These are just quick calculations, off the top of my head.... could be some error, but not a great amount, I feel.

Not factoring in your like/dislike of either brand - McD's is cheaper for a larger/more expensive cup.

Not so great a deal from Timmy's

All things considered - McDonald's has done quite well in the coffee game.
They have seemingly listened to the Canadian consumer.

Tim's has struggled. They tried to introduce food, American sizing, increased pricing, inferior ingredients and substitutions in their processes.
All terrible decisions to be honest.
IMO, when they first sold out to Wendy's, then to Burger King - the Americans pushed alot of this down their throats - in the name of profit margins.
Seriously it was a cup of coffee and a doughnut, Canadian comfort food. But they * it all up for the sake of a few extra percentage points for their profit margin. Terrible. I hope Tim's fails.

Starbucks is going to get into the food game now too, with the launch of Princi's Bakery. So let's see how that goes.

No wonder certain locations haven taken away free refills.

The XL for a $1 is a great deal. I guess I will be buying one almost every day.

I hated those Free coffee days...a small is not enough to start my day so I still need a Medium at least. But when the store gets jammed with tons of people looking for free coffee...it just kills the efficiency of the guys behind the counter. It's not like they are very efficient to begin with....

I had always thought that if they just charged a little bit of money instead of free, it would still net McD's more people, but get rid of the free loaders who would never come back when they have to pay anyway. I am looking forward to seeing if the stores will be less of a zoo this time around.

I totally agree with you ... I rather they charge and get rid of those people that go only for the free coffee.

I'm excited about the XL sizing too!
You will never stop people from going into an establishment for FREE anything promo. Establishments will always try to increase people traffic AND/OR future sales. That's life.

I am not much a coffee person, I have to order a de-caf when it's free small coffee to collect the stamps so I can get a hot chocolate later. Free is better paying $1.05.
