too much abuses causes it to be end for everyone.

why do ppl need to drink multiple cups? Isn't 1 cup good enough for few hrs ?

It was those "have nothing to do" people that kept getting refills and hogging all the seats the whole morning/day that cause it.....oh well.

now they gotta pay!

McDonalds discontinuing free coffee refills starting March 20th

Not seeing any such signs at the McD's I frequent in the Edmonton area and I have received free refills this week personally.

Looks like it's not national but only certain franchisees, perhaps where abuse might be an issue.

Refills are still happening to my recent visit to 3 different locations . No issues as I saw those who requested.

Last night driving home from Markham Hospital my wife and I stopped for coffee at McDonald's at 3760 Hwy 7, Unionville, ON . We order our regular small coffee and muffin. Went for a refill and found out refills had ended at that Unionville location last Fall.
If we had known we would have ordered a med. or large. The sign was attached to their reward program.
In Brampton and Mississauga refills are still included. Come on McDonald's. If you can give it away for a week, twice a year you can give a refill. Mark the cups or ask for the receipt which is the practice in Toronto. I am guilty of getting a third cup. At the same time I have never complained of coffee grinds which I would at TIM HORTONS.

Need to know where to stop and where to avoid. Avoid 3760 Hwy 7, Unionville, ON

One out of sherway gardens (the 24 hour location) has a sign that free coffee refills ended in Oct 2017

Change the look of the cup every so often. Make them look stupid. Don't punish the rest of us!
[..]
Also, as I've said before, mark the cup after offering only one refill per cup.

Likely due to abuse.
No so much the cost of the coffee, but someone has to brew a new batch and refill the station and that takes away their time to perform other functions.
I've seen HS kids come in swarms and fill up their water bottles with soda and I'm suprised that hasn't been pulled out and put behind the counter already!

Coffee is cheap but indeed it's a business they are trying to run and well people can be shameless and abusive.
Also off course, get the masses hooked and then pull the rug out from under them.

It's the same reason Costco stop leaving all the side item out for hotdogs.
