Actually I'm not sure if it's a Chinese thing because I'm fairly certain that gwai los have it too.
I vaguely remember marshmallows in it too.

Are these sauces already on the shelves? I'm asking because Spring has already arrived and I haven't seen them in stores and there was no mention which stores will carry them, very limited information to say the least. Do I need to contact McDonald's?

Can't wait for Mac Sauce. Need something to replace the discontinued red relish.

Will be nice to have for homemade burgers as I don't eat McDonald's anymore :P

Either it was at Walmart and has sold out quickly or its going to be stocked soon.

Ah, the walmart experience without even being there...anyway they don't have it online yet.

The gwai lo version you're thinking of is a Southern dessert called ambrosia salad - canned mandarins, canned pineapples, maraschino cherries, marshmallows, coconut flakes mixed with cool whip and sour cream. Gagging just thinking about it.

The Cantonese version I've seen is chopped fruit dressed with mayonnaise and served as an accompaniment to fried shrimp (also dressed with mayo)... here you get the extra weirdness of sweet fruit with savoury sauce meant to be eaten as a main dish.

Checked again today at WalMart the spot for them is still just labeled, no product.
