[Memory Express] ME: Asus SBC-06D2X External 6x Blu-ray Combo Drive - $57.49 After PB & MIR

Memory Express: Asus SBC-06D2X External 6x Blu-ray Combo Drive - $57.49 After Price Beat of Newegg & MIR from Newegg
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/MX37594
http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.as ... 6827135257

Memory Express Price Beat Guarantee:
http://www.memoryexpress.com/Policies/P ... on.cm.aspx

Instructions:
1. Have Memory Express Price Beat Newegg's before rebate price of $79.99. Total will come to $77.49 Before GST.
2. Download MIR from Newegg (valid for all resellers) and submit for $20 rebate.

Notes:
Memory Express lists the Part #SBC-06D2X-U/BLK/G. Newegg and the Asus rebate form list the Part #SBC-06D2X-U/BLK/G/AS. I had no problem price beating at Memory Express and I checked Asus' website to see their product line and am 90% confident that the rebate will go through.

You can get it for $57.49 and free shipping by PM'ing the S&H here: http://www.hookbag.ca/product/H3C06MQ6Z/

You can't PM the price from one retailer and the S&H from another.
So you either get the $83.13 + free shipping (from Hookbag) PM'ed or the $80 + $10 (from newegg) PM'ed.

Only thing that bugs me is this in the MIR terms: "Distributors and dealers may not participate in this offer."

Nothing to worry about, that a standard phrase meaning that Distributors/dealers can't just use their own stock to submit the rebates for themselves (i.e. rebate for end users only).

I was able to do it when I bought my NH-D14 from them, so I assume that it would work. Then again, it's quite possible that I just got lucky since I have only bought one item from them.

I'll send in an inquiry to Memory Express to verify it, and I'll edit this post as well as my other post(s) appropriately. I don't want to be spreading false information

EDIT:

I sent in an inquiry at around 11:45AM, explaining a hypothetical situation about price matching NCIX's less expensive price for an i5-2500K compared to Memory Express.

Then I went on to saying that, I wanted to price match Newegg for shipping as well, since they had free shipping (hypothetically).

I made specific note that I wanted to price match NCIX's price, and Newegg's free shipping; so I was price matching one competitor's price, and different competitor's shipping.

They just left the following message on my answering machine around 45 minutes after my inquiry:
wrote:
"Hi, good morning, my name is -------(I can't make out what her name is...), I'm calling from Memory Express. This message is for David.

I just want to let you know that price matching, as you have mentioned here, you want to price match the (?) processor from NCIX, which is fine, and you want to also price match free shipping from Newegg, which is also fine.

So just go ahead and place the order online. On step 3, just mention that you want to price match this order (with NCIX) and the free shipping from Newegg and we will adjust your price, and the shipping cost (or give you free shipping) [as in, shipping cost if there is one after the shipping price match] before we ship the entire order out.

So just go ahead and place the order online and mention all of these things on step 3.

Thank you.

I honestly can't see myself buying from anywhere else anymore, other than the odd item that they don't stock.

**One more thing, they don't tell you they price matched the shipping price (if there is one), however, it will be on the paper invoice that is included along with your purchase.

Is anyone able to read the rebate form properly? I only see question marks in the box on the right.

Seems like it does not include any software to play blu-ray.

I can read it correctly. All you really need from the form is the url. Go to the following url and follow the instructions: http://asus.4myrebate.com/?oc=ASU-10931

My local Staples has one in stock and on sale for $80, and I have a $25 off coupon, so it would be about $55.

But isn't this a pretty slow Blu-Ray read only, DVD writer combo drive?

Yes. Half the speed of a internal drive.
