[MEC] MEC Computer Day Pack 33%+ off

Nice commuter bag. I've been using my highschool backpack for too long and starting to get weird looks in the office.

3 sizes. Pretty solid back with laptop pocket.

You'll want to get a messenger bag be it made out of leather, canvas, whatever. Just make sure it's not the childish looking ones if you're trying to impress people with it.

However I think the MEC Bag is still a decent deal for anyone looking for an actual bag to use. MEC has great quality as well. Friend of mine has had his MEC bag since junior high and it still in pretty good shape, roughly 5 years.

Messenger and sling bags are bad choices for the health of your back and shoulders.

I feel this is MEC's best work/laptop/commuter bag. Super low key and enough to hold my laptop, gym clothes, lunch, and a few other things. Oh and it has an all weather cover.

Way more expensive but worth every penny.

Depends on personal preference really. Some might not mind sacrificing their "health" to look fashionable and some might not mind sacrificing fashion for health. TBH I don't see messenger bags and sling bags affecting much of your health. You're more likely to hurt your back from bad sitting posture, sleeping posture, etc.

I have a wide chest and extremely inflexible. I prefer messenger bag over backpack any day of the week.
If the price is right, just roll the dice.

I had the same backpack for many years, maybe half of high school and thru Univ. I was digging around in its dark recesses one day during a lecture looking for something, and discovered a smooshed cigarette pack with 3 joints in it, I had been carrying them around wherever I took that bag for like 5 years :) . My friend smoked them (I didn't do that anymore) and he said they were good heh.

Sorry, off topic, but you reminded me about it.

I've got a MEC's Deluxe Bookbag also with laptop slot which these days is selling for $39 there. It's also about 5 years old at this point. The bag is in pretty good shape but the pull-tabs for the zippers are almost worn out and have now been breaking off. Trying to figure out if I can buy zipper-pulls that look the same, or if I should shell out for another one of these - just not quite sure if there's anyplace that I could get replacements for that bit though.

That's a nice bag. I have one that has similar straps from Incase. The best bags are in the U.S. I don't find that many good ones here.

this is actually the bag i've been eying for months now. It's $50 at Staples, $45 with that 10% off coupon thingy but I found it in the $20's somewhere else. One of these days i'll have the time to pick it up

$5 gets you a lifetime membership, but yes, you need a membership to shop.

Decent bag but the issue I have with it, and others like it, is that the part where the straps meet the top of the bag looks weak, very weak on this one. I've had very durable bags in the past where these straps started to fray or loosen at these critical joints. I've seen designs where this top area has the joints and strap sewn right across with a large piece of material, double/triple stitched. Those look extremely durable, esp. if you'd be carrying a lot and/or a laptop. I would go for something with that nowadays but alas, I don't use backpacks too often anymore.
