Melatonin as a sleeping aid?
My job requires me to work rotating shifts and I am having a very hard time adjusting to shift change-overs, and also falling asleep during the day (night shift).
For the past couple of weeks I've been working the night shift and have resorted to medication (Nytol Sleep aid) to help me sleep during the day.
Worried about the growing dependance on Nytol I decided to not take it for a few days but that has resulted in serious insomnia.
I googled and found an alternative non-prescription sleep aid - Melatonin Suppliments - and was wondering if anyone has tried it before?
Note that I have tried making myself physically exhausted by working out but that does not help. I maybe physically tired but I am still mentally awake preventing me from falling asleep.
Thanks.

Melatonin will help, but can give very vivid dreams and you can be a bit groggy in the morning. If you buy melatonin, make sure it's the synthethic form and not one made from cow's pituitary glands because of mad cow disease.
