If it sounds to good to be true ......
After reading those stories on Consumer Complaints, I would even think about giving them my credit card.
Hope it works good for those folks who have signed up

yup, like I said. We know someone who has multiple memberships. My second membership is under the exact same name and address (used a different phone number because we thought it might be a bug in their system not working properly). You are allowed multiple memberships if you need it. The question is, do you have enough receipts for the gas/utilities/maintenance rebates and able to not mix things up
It's great for anyone who does a lot of shopping at these stores. You end up saving a lot of you are going to pay for these purchases anyway.

That's $500 per store. So 16 x $100 = $1600 if you buy them all. And don't forget the rebates, at least 3 x $100 = $300 if you send them all in. A total savings of $1900 - $139 if you use them all.

felix, I'm not trying to be dumb - really!
Initially you noted this about the rebates for receipts.....

Do you mean if I were to send in my grocery receipt from let's say Zehrs, and I bought milk and eggs and the receipt was for $6.28 they'd send me $10 to $15 for that receipt?
With your second note, does that mean they'd save up your receipts until they had enough to send you a $100 cheque and you could do this only three times in the year?

actually there are min. purchases you must make for those. I've updated my original post with this :
Gas $15 off $25 min. purchase (one every 3 months)
Home Utilities $15 off $30 min. purchase (one every 3 months)
Home Maintenance $15 off $30 min. purchase (one every 3 months)
Grocery $10 off $25 min. purchase (one every month)
To answer your PM, nope, never needed to call Better Business Bureau since I never had problems with them. I have no idea how that lady had 8 memberships. I just know which loves shopping!

. Has anyone had the time to do a detailed comparison? I am thinking of signing up again with some possible purchases ahead.

Yup. A telemarketer called me.

Got my $100 gift cards from discountgiftcards.ca yesterday. So they are legit. Seems like a one person "company". Came in a handwritten envelope, from a P.O. Box in North York, Ontario. Included was one of those Paypal packing slips with the 4 gift cards taped to it. So maybe they are reselling gift cards from At Home, LifeStyles, etc.

Hey Felix,
How long did it take from the time you ordered your gift cards to the time that you received them? What kind of confirmation/shipping confirmation did you receive (if any) when you ordered those items? It has been over 7 business days since I paid for my gift cards and I have yet to receive anything from them even though I have tried to contact them twice without any success

You mean from discountgiftcards.ca? Well, from my posts it looks like I ordered on Aug 9th, then I said I received mine the day before Aug 20th ... so you do the math
I never tried to contact them, no confirmation at all. Remember it looks like it's from a person and not a company ... they probably just don't go out to the mailbox every day.

As a Citibank cardholder, I phoned 1-800-387-1616 to try to get the $100 grocery rebates, but Citibank claimed that they cannot enrol me directly and to phone 1-800-847-7860. This number turned out to be MWI which registers memberships for both AtHome and Lifestyle Rewards. None of these companies seem to have websites.
AtHome costs $139.95/year billed at the end of the 30-day free trial period; there is a maximum of 20 gift cards per store per year. Lifestyle Rewards costs $99.95/year and has less stores, with a maximum of15 gift cards.
I will do my due diligence when I receive the membership kits. If I don't get the $100 grocery rebates, I will cancel then hopefully I'll get an offer I can't refuse!

Well, I think I googled it before but didn't find anything. Yes, you can use more than one GC per transaction. Only Canadian Tire sometimes has the limit depending on the store/gas station it seems (anyone know the pattern?).
This was the 20% deal I was mentioning on the Canadian Tire thread. I wish I didn't order so many Canadian Tire GC a month ago so I can save it for later
I am broke now after buying all these GC

While I'm glad Felix and others haven't been screwed by this company, I'm going to pass as I don't trust them.
Do you really want to deal with companies that are based in the U.S., have no website, are hesitant to give out their contact info, and are the subject of many consumer complaints?
Probably not. Plus, this sounds like a lot of work for a 20% discount.
Felix, thanks again for the great info on CT gift cards in the other thread though.

Actually, the company is based in Quebec. Which is why they only have deals with banks like Citibank, Desjardins, etc.

Would the following work?
1) As soon as I receive the membership kit, order all the gift cards and free magazines I want.
2) Stack all my utilities receipts to get the $15 rebate cheque 2 weeks later.
3) Mail all my home improvement receipts in the first 2 weeks so I will receive the $15 cheque before the trial period ends.
4) As soon as I get the 20% and $15 rebates, phone them about cancelling.
5) If they offer something good like $100 in gas coupons not to cancel, continue with my membership. The annual fee will be charged to my credit card, which I can cancel anytime the benefits no longer exceed the monthly cost.

Actually you can order even before you receive the membership kit :-) Did I mention that? Don't remember. As soon as you sign up on the phone, they should give you your membership #. You can order your gift cards at the same time, with the same rep.
Since the first 30 days is free, you actually get a month and a half or so before they start billing you
So you should order as many gift certs as you can. They usually come in 1 week or so. Then cancel right after you receive the 20% credit for it (remember, you pay the full price first and get the 20% back on your credit card at the end of the month ... usually it's the first week of the following month).
So you can say, sign up on Sept 7th (today) and get your gift cards and 20% back by Oct. 7th (quickest to check credit card statement online, remember it may take a few days for your bank to post the transaction) and then call to cancel
You can get the rebates too if you want ... I believe the rebates start 4 days after you sign up. So I signed up again on Aug. 4th, and my rebates all start on Aug. 9th. So save up on your receipts first as you'll want to mail it out as soon as they come. They are pretty quick, I think 2-3 weeks from day you put in mailbox. But just in case. Definitely doesn't hurt to send them in while you're at it
And yes, you can put all those rebates in the same envelope. I just scanned (yes, I keep track of them), and prepared 3 of them yesterday in the same envelope (gas/utilities/home maintenance). My receipts this time were from Petro Canada, Sprint Canada phone bill, and Rona and Sheridan Gardens I think it's called.
Remember to ask for all the rebates at time of sign up, esp. the gas ones. You should have at least 3. Normally you only get the gas rebates if you ask to cancel.
They won't offer anything for cancelling after the gas rebates. At least with me the only thing they have to keep you on is the gas rebates :-) If you can do the above, you've already maximized the deal
