OK folks, after much frustration trying to get signed up to At Home through Citi Bank, I finally jumped on the MBNA bandwagon with great success.
I ordered an MBNA card from their website online (www.mbna.ca). You can decide which one you like - I took the brand new CAA card because it's free and you can use the "points" to pay for your CAA membership. Anyway, that was on Saturday.
On the Monday following, I called MBNA to ask about At Home. The girl I spoke to was very knowledgeable about the program but explained that they couldn't do anything until the card had be processed. She suggested I call back as soon as I received the card.
I received the card the following Friday (I guess I have a good credit rating). I called MBNA to ge signed up for At Home.
The MBNA rep I spoke to gave me the At Home number to call directly to sign up. I explained that it was my understanding that the process had chnaged and that he (MBNA) had to sign me up. He put me on hold for a minute and then came back to confirm that in fact HE had to sign me up. I guess he'd been around for a while and didn't know about the procedure change..
Anyway, ten minutes later and he had read off all of the benefits, costs etc. of the program and I was signed up.
The kit arrived one day shy of two weeks later. I tried to access the At Home web site with no problems. I ordered a bunch of GCs online as well as the key and dog tags. The tags bounced an error, so I called At Home to clarify.
The At Home rep entered the tags in manually and when he asked me if there was anything else I said that the MBNA rep had told me that there was some sort of 'grocery' rebates available, but I couldn't find them online (I know, grocery is NOT available to At Home, but I thought I'd try anyway). Unfortunately, he couldn't find any grocery rebates for me, but he immediately offered me the $100 in gas rebates no questions asked.
That was last Thursday.. so I hope to see the GCs, tags and rebate forms sometime this week.
Rebates should add upto $220, so I'm not sure why anyone would want to sign up, get the gift cards and the quit. You can actually be paid an additional $70 to stay in. My other concern is that if enough people abuse the offer by maxxing (is that a word?) out their GCs and then quitting, that we will all bet burned in the end. Let's hope this doesn't become another RFD Dead Deal..![]()
Overall, great program so far. If you're in the market for a CC, then this is a win-win situation..

Couple of questions?
Can I sign up order $500 worthg of GC I want and then cancel within the first month but still receive the 20% rebate on the GC's?
Can I use these gift cards to pay off a store CC or say financing from the Brick?
After cancelling can i sign up again say the following month abnd order another $500 for the same stores i got GC's from last month?
Or am I better off making trades for the GC's I require?
I am looking at building a deck and a fence so Home Depot cards would be very helpful. Also looking at buying a shed for the backyard so the sears one would be great.
Thanks ahead of time for the any feedbackLast edited by leafs; Mar 27th, 2005 at 09:18 AM.

I have an AT HOME membership, which I signed up last Nov. ,but it's almost max.out. I plan to get a MBNA credit card and sign-up for AT HOME. Can I have 2 AT HOME membership or will I have to cancel the other one before I sign-up. I would like to keep the other membership ,since the rebates is paying for the membership.

maybe i will try to call MBNA again tmr to signup also AtHome. I was transferred by MBNA to AtHome CSR, and was refused to signup the AtHome by both the CSR and supervisor.
but anyways, i can still use Lifestyle for now, and will probably wait for the CanTire $25 bonus GC

Yes you're suppose to have only 1 program per household, but the system didn't stop me from signing up for a few.
For me I had to use a different credit card number and different phone number. That's it, but it was last year through direct signup. I do not have an account with MBNA so I can't comment on the rebates.

Can I pay my Brick account with Brick GC's?
Answered my own querstion. Called the Brick and they said it is not possible the Debt is owned by another company and you cannot apply GC's to the balance. Anyone else have a different experience?Last edited by leafs; Mar 27th, 2005 at 02:18 PM.

With so many people signed up through these programs, what about setting up a specific BST thread for people looking to trade GC's ?

yeah, I thought of that but don't know how it would work. I mean, unless we set up a website or something, how would people post on it and keep it bumped up? And would people on the BST forums be sick of seeing the same GC thread over and over again? Linking to the first post is no problem (just got to reserve some characters for it). What do you guys think?

hmm .. what do you mean by maintenance? I assume you mean editing of posts to reflect what's traded, etc.
