This memory foam..is this that viscoelastic stuff?
I saw an infomercial about that stuff..supposed to be pretty good stuff
I need a featherbed!

Nov 29th, 2003 07:57 PM #31Is it really that therapeutic? I mean, with most mattresses (especially memory foam mouthpads), the stuff contours to your body and stays that way forever. Wouldn't it be bad if you had bad posture? Not good for people with "HUnch backs"...Old grannys should stay away from this...may actually do more damage than good.
You don't wanna bend your back to far down and stare at your foot while walking u may trip and knock some kid over the street.

[LOL do you really believe what you've just said?* These things are only about 2 inches thick.* Certainly not enough so you're body doesn't or can't turn.* My feather bed cushions me more, and i'm assuming you're against those as well then?
Wrt feather cushions, heat build up was the main problem.
IMHO, buckwheat cushions are the best if you can find them! My grandma is 95 years old and swears by them. [/b][/quote]
Well, it decreases it because your body is more comfortable, so it doesn't toss and turn.
And why would heat build up be a problem with featherbed? Sounds like you're just spewling a bunch of BS.

I have a silly question!
I have circulation problems when I sleep. My arms and hands are often totally dead when I wake up. Often I wake up in the middle of the night with this.
I hear this memory stuff helps circulation when you sleep, would anyone happen to (or know of someone who has) have this problem and had it resolved by a memory foam topper?
Just Curious_______________

donye, I think you should post a new thread next time.
I know you are trying to help.
But this is too old.
kud0s69, I think that's the RFD syndrome I am experiencing now. You cannot leave RFD.
When the virtual dream stuff come out, all your probelms will be gone!

). Next time start a new thread. I saw Wintechs name and couldn't believe he was back on the board after his big rant a while back then I saw the date of his post. Close one.
Nice find btw.

Mar 25th, 2004 09:44 AM #45I got a foam mattress topper a couple of months ago, can't remember the brand but it was main brand they sold at Sears.Originally posted by kud0s69@Mar 25 2004, 01:01 AM

Just Curious
It was a little tricky to cut because these things are really big and unweildy. But more significant just working with it and moving it around, it was generating some really wild static electric charges. You have to experience this to understand but I me and the whole room were getting big shocks and a general feeling of being electrically charged. It wasn't painful but it was kind of unsettling.
Anyway, I got a 4" thickness, which seemed to be the middle setting. I too was worried about bottoming on a 2".
The first bad point I noticed it is really added to the elevation of the bed. My bedding was still able to handle the added size, but the bed has a more Victorian ride height now. The second thing I noticed is it has a tendency of gradually sliding off center, so it has to be nudged back into place when the bed is made. Maybe a better cutting job on my part would have changed that?
I used to have a lot of discomfort during sleep. Joints that would kind of get stiff and by morning I'd be rolling a lot from side to side trying to avoid sensitive sore spots.
This mattress changed everything. I haven't had the stiff joint thing since I installed the mattress topper. In general it feels really great and cloud-like to sleep on. I absolutely love it.
This will sound like an info-mercial, but one unintentional drawback is I find myself sleeping in later and longer with this bed. I think perhaps its because I'm in a deeper sleep and not always repositioning away from the stiff arm or shoulder.
I have no idea how it will deal with summer heat, if it does or does not help circulation, or if it would be harmful to people that like a stiff bed. But I can say it's been an amazing change here...
