I don't think bumping the ram is going to make any difference. You can just lower the ram multiplier to keep ram in spec.
Taking a E8400 up to 4ghz isn't easy, what setup / bios settings are you using?

Memory question (move up to 1066, or stay with 800)
Hello guys....
Now as found in another thread, I was trying to hit 4.0 on my e8400 but failed and I figured it was because I bought cheaper RAM.
I've decided to purchase better RAM now and I have a question...is it better to go with lower timings than my current one (DDR2-800) 5-4-4-15, or head up to DDR2-1066 with timing slightly higher? (i.e, 5-5-5-15)
Also, could you rank each set of memory from 1-4 based on quality and performace (1 being the best)?

It depends on what sort of ratio you have your RAM:FSB. Like Silver Bullet said, you can just lower your divider to stay in spec. Faster RAM will likely be a waste of $$

If u had a choice between 2x1gb of 1066ram, or 2x2gb of 800ram of the same price. I would say go for the 800 . I had this choice once, and I bought some patriot extreme ram that's rated at 2.3v though the motherboard would only allow +.1,+.2,+.3 etc. increase in the ram voltages. I couldn't really get it to overclock even much at all. Even when upping the voltages, the motherboard didn't show it to be anywhere near the 2.3v rate. Stick with 800mhz, I was able to overclock it to 900mhz
