Bought my phat ps3 for $350 and sold the 2 bundle games, so technically I paid less than $300 for it.

But still, I wouldn't mind a slim one (consumes lower power) at $300.

well....there weren't any basis for those rumors anyways. Just because MS was selling pratically just a 100000 units more per month in NDP doesn't really pressure Sony into it.

Then you move to E3, which once again the only basis was the pics of the SLIM and supposed box. Even then, why drop the price of the product in May? That makes absolutely no business sense.

Sony is bleeding money, so they CAN'T drop the price. They have now reduced production costs by 70% and by actually making a SLIM, they probably reduced the cost further meaning they aren't taking huge losses on each console made (in comparison to when it launched)

I'm guessing you think they were being run over by the 360. kidding right? Worldwide sales says for the year so far, 360 is only leading by 100000 units at half the cost.

Now the next question is BLU-RAY once again. For those that are looking into getting blu-ray and a console, with the 360 and PS3 at the same price, it isn't a tough decision anymore.

They also said the current 80GB was going to drop in price immediately to $299.99. But what incentive does that give anyone to buy the fat one when this one is coming out?

Also, the 160GB one will be $399.99?

well in sony's defence they had to find ways to cut the price so i guess the move to ugly plastic was one of them
